The Malaga Animal Shelter
The Malaga Animal Protection Society was original
founded in 1966. After many years of trying to run their shelter
in Los Asperones
where they suffered continual break ins, theft of animals for dog
fight etc. City Hall donated a new 8,000 square metre site in
La
Virreina" in 2001. In the same year the Andalusian Government
also donated an office in calle cruz Verde.
Apart from their work of caring for abandoned animals
the Society also carry out a sterilisation programme on Malaga's
cats and have sent more than 100 dogs to homes in other countries.
