La Herradura.
Enjoying a beautiful setting, this pretty village overlooks a horseshoe-shaped bay which is famous for its crystal clear waters, sheltered, if pebbly, beach and excellent watersports’ facilities, particularly scuba-diving.
Located just 7km west of the sizeable town of Almuñécar, La Herradura has two excellent campsites, several hostals and a grand hotel, Los Fenicios.

Most of the restaurants are on the scenic Paseo Andrés Segovia while Chiringuito La Sardina is right on the beach and appropriately named, after its catch-of-the-day barbecued sardines.
The best dive sites are located around Punta de la Mona. Just beyond here, to the west is a naturist beach, Playa Cantarriján. The tourist information kiosk on the paseo can advise you of diving and windsurfing rentals and courses.
