Granada Airport, situated in the area known as "Vega del Genil" or plains of the River Genil 16km west of the city of Granada and 106km south of the city of Jaen. It mainly handles national flights to Madrid and Barcelona but recently has expanded with a number of international flights from low cost airlines.
The terminal building was opened in 1972. The airport
has a single runway, 2,900 m long by 45 metres wide named 09 - 27
and an apron with twenty-five aircraft stands, of which eleven are
for commercial planes. In 2006 Granada handled a total of 777.000 passenger movements (departures plus arrivals).
The first recorded flight at the Santa Fe location
was in 1911 to celebrate Corpus Cristi. In 1922 the town hall donated
the land for the construction of a permanent facility which was
opened in 1925 and named Aeródromo Dávila in memory
of Luis Dávila Ponce de León. The first regular scheduled
service was to Seville.

Granada airport is located about 16 Kilometres west
of the city near the small town of Santa Fé. The access to
the airport is directly south from the A92 Seville motorway.
There are several departures a day for buses to the city centre. Operated by Autocares Gonzalez. Their website is www.autocaresjosegonzalez.com (Tel:958 490 164).
Busses to the city from the airport are "following the arrival of every aeroplane" The journey time is 45minutes and the cost is 3 Euro.
The return bus to the airport starts from Paseo del Violón (Junto Callejon del Angel). at 05:20 (except Sundays) and 06:25, 07:45, 09:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00.

Airport - 45 minutes after starting.
Alsa Bus operate a coach servise from Granada Airport to Jaen (Carretera C/ctra. Torrequebradilla). departures from Jaen are at 09:30 (except Sunday), 10:30 (Sunday only), 13:30, 18:30. Journey time 2hrs and cost 9€. departures from the Airport are at 09:45, 19:15.
There are taxis available at the airport. The cost
is about 17 EUR to the city. 25 EUR to the Alhambra, 63 EUR to the
Sierra Nevada Ski resort.
Car parking is available for 450 cars First half hour is 0,40 €; second half hour 0,50 €; each additional hour or fraction is 0,90 €; Maximum daily up to four days is 9,00 €; thereafter 7,20 € per day. Lost ticket 45 €.
