in the area of the main N340 Mediterranean highway on a Sunday
cannot fail to have
had their peace shattered by the roar of herds of motorbikes powering
past. The warm weather make motorbiking popular in Andalucia.

Andalucia is one giant off-road paradise and country
bikers can feast themselves on terrain as testing or as comfortable
as they choose. It can be a fascinating and rewarding way to experience
some parts of the Andalusian countryside, which are, for one reason
or another, inaccessible either by vehicle or on foot. There are
thousands of trails criss-crossing the whole region it is difficult
to find detailed information about rights of way which track only
lead to a farmhouse. Be prepared to explore.
If you don't have your own motorbike, there are
a number of places from which they can be hired. Motomercado is
one of the largest rental companies on the coast and has offices
in Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola and Marbella. Prices range
from as little as 2,500 ptas a day for a small moped, right up to
25.000 ptas a day for a massive Honda Goldwing. Others in the same
game are Turarche in Malaga, Louis Rent in Fuengirola, or Moto Alba
in Torremolinos.

Also worth mention is the Spanish Championship "Raids
de Motociclismo" held in Mijas
Benalmadena has its own 'Concentración de
Motos' when literally thousands of motorcyclists converge on the
town. It takes place around the last weekend in April, and can be
of great interest not just to motorbike fans. Warning: if you don't
like noise, stay out of town this weekend!
For fans of motocross and cycling, there are various
activities in Andalucía, such as the competitions organised
in Huelva during the Fiestas Colombinas,
in Almería and at Alcalá de Guadaira
and Osuna in Sevilla, with the participation
of amateurs and professionals.
