El Torcal

The “comarca” (county) of Antequera is home to numerous parks.

Paraje Natural del Torcal
This gorgeous protected area is composed of the most amazing rock formations that have been created by erosion over millions of years. There is a park reception centre where you can learn more about the park. This is also an excellent place to get information about the various trekking routes through the park. It is also possible to visit the park on horseback or mountain bike. The El Torcal park is an important area for birds migrating between Europe and Africa. It is also home to over 600 varieties of plants.

Jardines del Rey
This is a new park in Antequera. It was inaugurated in 1998 by King Juan Carlos. This park offers wonderful views of Antequera and also has a children’s play area.
