Chris Chaplow Managing Director
Chris
Chaplow was awarded an honours degree in Civil Engineering at King¹s
College, London and worked in management on a number of major construction
projects including the Watford Grandstand, the Twickenham South
Grandstand and the Stavely bypass. He then worked on several infrastructure
projects in Gibraltar and finally the Safeway Superstore, before
his interest in Andalucia, photography and computers led him to
Spain.
This commenced with the Andalucia Slide Library which began as the creation of a digitised database of Andalucian images and the perfecting of techniques for their transmission to the worldwide media via telephone. The internet became the obvious means by which to continue this work and resulted in the internet business founded with Chris Mason in Kingston upon Thames in London in 1996 which evolved into what is now Andalucia.com.
Andalucia.com is the market leader in its field and Chris´s business philosophy as the Managing director for the last ten years, has always been first and foremost to be adaptable to change, to promote integrity, fairness, honesty and trust towards employees, clients and business partners.
Michelle Chaplow Director
Michelle Chaplow has lived and worked in Andalucia in Southern Spain for fifteen years as a freelance photographer specialising in travel and tourism having studied photography at Seville University. Her work has appeared in magazines, books and newspapers all over Europe, Australia, the United States of America and even China. In 1996 she was awarded a prestigious state contract by Turespaña, the Spanish Tourist Board. In 2001 she received an honorary mention for her continuous work in the field of photography in promoting Spanish tourism and the Ortiz Echagüe prize given by the Spanish Ministry of Tourism and Commerce.
A graduate from Manchester University with a degree in Food Science and Technology, Michelle has extensive managerial and sales experience. She was the new product and marketing manager for Pinney’s of Scotland, responsible for liasing with Marks and Spencer in the development of new product lines and co-ordinating a number of projects with companies in Ireland. After a sabbatical year in Latin America, Michelle relocated to Andalucia
and established her 'Andalucía Slide Library'. Michelle specialises in
images of Southern Spain and maintains a library of over 100,000 images,
which provides the company with a valuable photographic resource.
Minoo Gazdar
Director
A
successful businessman who established himself in Marbella in 1986.
His current business provides a wide variety of office services,
including graphic design and printing. Minoo has launched numerous
successful projects in sales and Marketing.
Christopher Wawn
Director
Christopher
Wawn was appointed Director of Andalucia.com in 2000 having
been associated with the company since 1997. During this period
Chris has lead on many projects, such as the Pueblo Guide and Financial
Services Section. His knowledge of Andalucia has
been of great assistance to the site's content pages and he has
contributed many articles based on his series of
books, 'In Search of Andalucia'. In addition, Chris is a Chartered
Manager and has assisted the Board and Company Secretary and
been involved in setting many of the annual Budgets.
Christopher also has business interests in both
the UK and Gibraltar. He is Director and Company Secretary
to the Quest Group and specialises in providing corporate services
to the UK insurance market and the international fund management
industry. He also works in the insurance industry in Gibraltar
and is director of various companies with activities in publishing,
historical research and tours. He is a lecturer in Management at
the Gibraltar College of further education which first engaged to
help write their business plan. This dedicated involvement led to
him becoming a director shareholder. In his previous career, Chris
spent 15 years as a banker and with a combination of his corporate
skills, in 2006 he was seconded to the British Embassy Office in
Basra, leading a project to modernise the Iraqi banking system.
Other than his Chartered status, Chris has a postgraduate
diploma in management, an honours degree in History and Geography and
is fully qualified to give financial advice.
Chris Mason
Director
A
graduate of Kings College London. Chris is a computer programmer
based in Kingston upon Thames, London. Together with Chris Chaplow,
they established their first internet venture in 1995 and inaugurated
Andalucia.com the following year. Chris brings valuable computing
and business skills to the company as a founding director.
Paz Rosado García
Editor/Journalist
Paz
is the key Editor and Journalist on the Spanish version of the Andalucia.com
website and has been with the company since 2003.
She brings a broad range of journalistic skills
and experience to Andalucia.com, having worked in a number of fields
including electronic media with Wcities.com.Paz's career includes
being a reporter for the Canal Sur radio station and later, a presenter
on the Canal Sur television station for a programme about the villages
of Andalucía. She has also contributed to a wide variety of different
newspapers and magazines.
A Journalism graduate of Navarra University, Paz
has been the Manager of the Press Offices for both the College of
Administration of Country Estates in Cádiz and the Scientific Cinema
Festival of Ronda.
Brenda Padilla
Editor/Journalist
Brenda Padilla is the editor of Andalucia.com’s English language version. She has a degree in Spanish from Western Washington University which included study abroad at both the Universities of Alicante and Seville. In 1993 she broadened her international experience with a course in Global Policy Studies at Oslo University’s International Summer School. She also holds an ESL teaching certification from Seattle University which allowed her to work for US Government programmes providing education for immigrants and refugees to the USA from around the world.
Brenda has many years experience as both a teacher and journalist. She moved from the Spanish Basque Country to Andalucia 1997, where she has contributed to and worked with a variety of media in southern Spain, including monthly magazines, radio and newspapers. She has also translated a book about Andalusian natural parks published for the Andalusian Regional Tourist Board. In addition to working at Andalucia.com, Brenda is a presenter for Onda Cero International Radio in Marbella, Spain.
Marta Palomo Hermoso
Journalist
Marta
is a fully qualified journalist having graduated from the European
University in Madrid. In addition to working with Andalucia.com
Marta works in media production, producing and directing a sports
and cultural programme for Onda Cádiz television. She has also presented
and edited programmes for provincial channels including Onda Cádiz
and Channel Cádiz television.
Marta began her career in the communication department
of Telefónica in Madrid and has collaborated on cultural programmes
for COPE radio station at both a national and provincial level.
With her extensive knowledge and geographical base in Cádiz, Marta
is providing Andalucia.com with valuable first hand content on western
Andalucia.
Shenai Martinez FernÁndez
Journalist / Web Designer
Shenai Martinez Fernández has a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University in Madrid and a diploma in digital media from Villanueva University.
Since graduating, she has worked as a radio presenter with Radio Nacional de España and Onda Cero. Shenai has also collaborated with Europa Press, EFE Reportajes and presented programmes on local television.
Within Andalucia.com Shenai is focusing on creating new and interesting features about this beautiful region, Andalucia. I'm sure you will want to join us in welcoming Shenai on board.
Encarni Q. LÓpez
Finance & Accounting
Encarni
is responsible for the financial and accounting sector of Andalucia.com.
She was attracted to the company for a variety of reasons particularly
their vision for the future, expansion plans and the importance
of this unique Andalucian Portal in both the National and International
marketplace.
Before joining the company in 2003, Encarni studied
Tourism and Marketing and then spent a year in London studying English
and augmenting her work experience. She intends to continue expanding
her knowledge of finance and accounting and has been impressed by
the commitment to training and development offered by the company.
Carlo Piran
Technical & SEO Specialist
Carlo has worked as a web developer with advanced HTML, DHTML skills
and experience of JavaScript. Since joining Andalucia Web Solutions
four years ago he has been developing the front-end of Web and Intranet
sites, acting between the Web designers and the PHP/ASP developers
and specialising in Search
Engine Optimisation and usability issues for both AWS
and Andalucia.com. Carlo is also responsible for Internet Marketing
and maintains clients’ websites, email accounts and deals
with domain name registration, transfer and related issues.
Before that Carlo worked as a web developer at
Oyster Partners Ltd. He joined as a production assistant but his
talent was soon spotted and he was promoted to web developer, becoming
the Team Leader a year later in 2000. Carlo has been involved in
developing a number of websites for clients such as the V &
A Museum, BT retail, BBC jobs, Orange, Unilever, Take2games, Monsoon
and Accessorize. He created the template for the Oyster Digital
Style Guides widely used both by the other web developers and by
the clients. Carlo also has invaluable knowledge of Web Design packages
such as Photoshop, Flash and Fireworks and hosting packages such
as Cpanel.
Stacy Prendeville
Web Designer & Developer
Stacy
joined Andalucia.com in August 2006 in the role of Web Designer
& Developer. Having graduated in Multimedia from South Nottingham
College, she began her career with Headland Multimedia and went
on to gain 5 years experience of commercial web design.
Stacy is a qualified lecturer of Web Design and
Multimedia who has worked with a number of multinational companies,
charity organisations, governmental organisations and the Arts Council,
using art and multimedia in European Community cohesion projects.
Stacy's fresh approach is bringing valuable innovation to the design
department.
Ana Mª Manzano SimÓn
Account Manager
With
a background in tourism, Ana joined Andalucia.com in 2001 as an
Administrator but her versatility has enabled her to work in a number
of different areas within the company. Ana went on to study graphic
and web design and became part of the design team involved in the
development of the Spanish version of Andalucia.com Most recently,
at the start of 2006, she moved into sales and now works as an Account
Manager. Ana¹s flexibility and knowledge of the different departments
in the company have made her an invaluable asset.
Robert MagitS
Sales Team Leader
Belgian born Robert joined Andalucia.com as an Accounts Manager in July 2006 and was promoted to Team Leader for the in-house sales staff at the start of 2008. Having graduated as a Commercial Engineer, he began his professional career in Brussels with J.P. Morgan Euroclear in a range of sales and sales management positions.
After four years, Robert moved into a more Business Development and Marketing role with a European IT Consulting company and was quickly promoted to Sales Manager of a team of four Account Managers.
Robert is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Dutch, he is currently learning Italian.
Michael Reilly
Account Manager
Mike
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Technology, a degree
which very much focused on IT Systems and support. He lived in Mallorca
for three years while studying for an Advanced Diploma in Spanish
Language sponsored by the Spanish government.
Prior to joining Andalucia Web Solutions, Mike was
employed by Aviva Norwich Union working within the Financial Advisors
Department in a support and training capacity. In his spare time
Mike directs and edits his own short films and video clips and currently
aspires to producing a documentary on Andalucia.
Matthew Wittering
Junior Web Designer & Developer
Matthew Wittering is our latest placement student from Loughborough University's Computing and Management Programme. His day-to-day responsibilities at Andalucia.com will include adding and updating information to the Andalucia.com website, creating solutions to fulfil a myriad of requests, and implementing web design.
Matthew's professional interests involve Web 2.0 and user-generated content, database design, Content Management Systems (CMS), Really Simple Syndication (RSS), and business systems.
William Eaton
Web Developer
Andalucia Web Solutions is proud to announce the return to our fold of William Eaton. Some of you might recall that William was an outstanding placement student with us during 2005-2006. At that time he worked on a multitude of important projects including the authorship of the in-house application that we currently use to control in our production control system.
William then returned to Loughborough University to complete his degree and graduated in July, 2007 with his Bachelors of Science, with honours. When he received an offer to return this year from AWS Director Chris Chaplow, William accepted gladly. His love for the Spanish culture (and in particular, Andalucia) helped make the decision to return an easy one.
