Wierd and wonderful plants await you in the Botanical Gardens of Andalucia

If you are a botany buff, or wishing to become one, you can easily incorporate educational experiences into your Andalusian holiday.
Of special interest is a garden holiday offered by the owners of a delightful rural Inn called Cortijo el Papudo. This guided tour of some of Andalucía's most beautiful Moorish and renaissance gardens is scheduled as either a five or seven night excursion.
There are also world-renowned natural parks in Andalucía, where you can make the world your classroom. The local publishing company Santana sells a useful guide in English to some of the wildflowers you will meet with in these parks.
Botanical gardens are also common in this region and can be found in many small towns, especially along the coast. One of the best known is the Finca La Concepción de Málaga where a vast array of plants grow in a park that was founded 150 years ago. The Parque el Retiro in the small town of Churriana - near Málaga - is also a botanical park, in addition to hosting 300 species of birds.
