Once you know what you're doing, you will have the exceptional opportunity to dive in crystal clear waters in the Cabo de Gata Biosphere Reserve in Almería (on Andalucia's eastern coast). And this is just the beginning as you will find opportunities to dive all along the coast of sunny, southern Spain. To learn more about diving in southern Spain, click here.
You don't have to dive into local waters in order to learn about this area's fascinating marine life though. Public and private marine science centres make it easy to study and enjoy the Mediterranean sea up close - without getting wet. In Benalmádena, Sea Life is an excellent private learning centre for all ages, while in Málaga the city's public centre, located in the port offers the public a museum full of sea specimens and skeletal remains, with a special focus on the endangered tortoises that live in local waters.
Bordering on seal life are the crocodiles at Crocodile Park in Cártama, about
15 minutes inland from Málaga city. In addition to many safe, natural habitat-style
displays, the park has a nursery where crocodiles are raised for a South African
repopulation programme.
