Yes, as a normal purchase deposit 10% is normal, but here we are talking about mortgage deposits.

Re: I907 at 27.5 W

i907 is used by a tiny number of people in southern Spain. It is not an issue with the tv companies because, unlike Sky, they are no money issues and from the rights point of view it is encrypted. I could be proved wrong but I doubt that anything will change when the satellite is replaced. The bigge...

Sorry - no. It sounds like a personal letter rather than a round robin.

Actually the contracted amount is 13.856Kw. How they arrive at that figure rather than 13.2Kw I know not!

Re: Power supply in Spain

I think you will find that the 4.4kw is for each phase giving 13.2kw overall. That is what we have. Each phase has a 20a ICP.

Re: UK driving licences valid in Spain?

I think they may be waiting for confirmation of the licence validity from the DVLA.

I think it is called a Certificate of Entitlement.

Re: UK driving licences valid in Spain?

He was telling me that post march 29, spanish residents with uk licences will have 6 months to change to a spanish licence, and then after that if they are stopped, they will be treated as "driving without a valid licence" - This is the official version. The validity of driving licenses i...

Re: Cosumer protection/dispute reolution

So did he not supervise the delivery and why did he not get them to leave the packaging?

If you had not arranged for him to do that, then I guess that this mess is down to you.

Re: Roofing Costs

Out roof is beams with insulated boards. They slot together and you have a choice of finish. Ours are plasterboard. The builders then covered them with bitumen sheets and added steel mesh and concreted over that, finished with traditional tiles. A bit overkill but it looks nice and isn’t going to fa...

Re: Killing weeds with aguafuerte

Any decent garden centre will have it and possibly a cheaper alternative. Usually they will only sell 500ml bottles as larger amounts are restricted to professionals.

Re: UK driving licences valid in Spain?

I think you are missing the point. No one is trying to avoid a medical. The question was, do you have to have a medical to exchange your licence. In some locations they do and in others they do not. It is hardly worth spending €35 for a medical certificate that will, in some locations just be thrown...

Re: Elsa - death due to poisoning

Sorry to hear about that. There are so many possible poisons that it would not be possible to list them here. There is a site which deals with this here https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/pet-owners/basics/top-10-plants-poisonous-to-pets/ The two common ones that are all over the place are Oleanders ...

Re: Junk food

The problem with using really lean beef in a burger is that the texture is all wrong without a decent amount of fat. A burger made from fillet steak would not be the best! Better to chop it and have it as Steak Tartare.

Re: I907 at 27.5 W

I don’t think that has anything to do with it. As Satandpcguy pointed out, there are many other (more significant) users of the satellite, not least of which is Voice of America. They all have long term contracts with Intelsat and are not going to be affected in any way by a new satellite becoming o...

Re: I907 at 27.5 W

There is no reason to think otherwise. They could discontinue the service at any time. The fact that the satellite is being replaced is not their problem. They have contracted for a service and it is up to the satellite owners to provide it. When Sky has changed satellites in the past, the user is n...
