Reform Requirements

We are wanting a property reformed which we discussed with the Ayuntamiento architect. He said the work we want does not require a 'Proyecto' as it is obras menores but we will need to submit plans drawn up by an Arquitecto Tecnico. Does anyone know how detailed this plan needs to be? Is it just roo...

Ring Beam

Having a house reformed consisting of two floors the walls are 50cm thick, I want to keep the ground floor walls at 50cm but remove the top floor and room and have this part totally rebuilt this involves putting in what we call a 'Ring Beam' it totally surrounds the house and is reinforced with meta...

Water Deposit Dilemma

We look after a holiday home in the campo, after last years drought the owners decided to have a 4,000ltr water deposit installed. The town water feed continually tops up the deposit via the contador and water filter, when the water is used a pump kicks in to regulate the flow to the house. When the...

Re: Black border around TV screen

Same here - If we watch UK TV via the Apple TV from my MacBook it fills the screen however from my iPad there is a thick black border, none of the format/ratio controls on my Samsung Smart TV do the trick.

Re: Nevada shopping

Yes - Agree with most peoples comments, the Nevada Centre stores are the same as everywhere else, including Flying Tiger, Casa, Natura, A Loja Del Creo Gato the same as Miramar Fuengirola, MediaMarkt and Fnac too, originally there was supposed to be an Apple Store. The cinema there showing films VOS...

Re: Residencia Card/Document Query

Our residencia document is A4 size so as you can imagine it's folded to fit in my wallet and is tatty after 8 years. If you Google 'Spanish Residencia Documentation' (Images) some are cards and others like ours, maybe it differs from province to province. Didn't know you needed a dog licence - as we...

Residencia Card/Document Query

When we became Spanish residents about a year after we came here, we were issued a photo card ID. On renewal after 5 years, we were issued with a green paper document with no photo and were told that this would last indefinitely. Is this also the case for new residents or are they issued with some o...

Re: Former Iberbanda Customers

Olive - Sorry only just read your last post. No need for an aerial where we are, we are in a valley at 760m with views across to the nearest small village of Zagra. When we were with Iberbanda we had a small dish (WIMAX System) which needed to be in direct view of the mast which was on the hillside ...

Re: Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Repair

Whitehorse - Checked the fuse, that is OK. My wife was using the cleaner switched it off to do something else but it failed to come on the next time. She initially thought it may have a censor that detects overheating. On YouTube (e-spares guy) he mentions changing a faulty spring on the DC05 model ...

Update - Very happy with our Movistar service, Skyping is not a problem with our 800kb upload limit but is a problem with FaceTime that requires around 1.5mb. because it is in HD. Our download limit is wonderful, we can now watch programmes in HD with minimal disruption during peak times. Even bette...

There used to be a bloke who was an upholsterer in Frigiliana area originally from Manchester, he had a stall at the English market at Trapiche, haven't been there for many years so don't know if he still operates.

Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Repair

We have invested in a new Dyson vacuum cleaner after our previous one which is a DC05 and is about 25 years old packed in, to be precise it won't switch on). We'd like to get the old one repaired and use it at the holiday rental we care for as their new Philips cleaner 'Sucks' excuse the pun. The DC...

Re: Former Iberbanda Customers

We are delighted with what we have to a point - ie 20mb download, which up to now works much better than 3mb during peak times for TV viewing at peak times. However from Movistar we have a pathetic upload of upto 800kb this we found to be a bit of a downer since Skyping or Facetiming resulting in ou...

Roof-rack & Ladders Question.

A friend of mine was recently nabbed by the Guardia Civil (local) for carrying ladders which were about 2ins over the length of his car, he had tied a rag to the end of the ladder but was told by the that anything transported on a roof rack that overlaps the car length must carry an official warning...

Re: Former Iberbanda Customers

Just an update We continued using Iberbanda up until today despite the fact that they were closing all their transmitters by Summer 2017. We did get a letter from Movistar stating that they had bought out Iberbanda but are still providing the same service at the same spec and rates in December 2017....

Former Iberbanda Customers

We as Iberbanda users didn't panic when we got notice of Iberbanda folding in. In view of this we never lost our internet/landline connection as threatened at the time, but just got a letter stating that the company had been bought out (absorbed) by Telefonica Movistar. Nothing has changed for us, t...
