Re: Moving to UK-

Good luck with the move Miro, hope it goes well for you. Having family living locally will be a major bonus for you, in helping with settling back in with registering with a doctor etc. My partner says that we should expect to be in Spain for 10 years, I've told him, I am making the move for life. I...

Re: Making offers for property

People have spent years trying to get an LFO. Please let us know if you get it before you sign on the dotted line If we don't get it - we wont be signing anything!! I am giving it 3 months to get it and if nothing by then, we shall leave it and move on to look again!! The most frustrating thing is ...

Re: Applying for your NIE number

As I mentioned before, it was amazingly simply and straightforward to do it at the Consulate in London, but obviously if you live some distance from London it might be more of a problem. We then had a nice lunch and an afternoon wandering around Chelsea/Kings Road area. The NIE number was then email...

Re: Making offers for property

If furniture is included in the sale price the normal procedure is to show this as a separate, but realistic figure, thus avoiding transfer and other taxes. If paying with cheques or bankers drafts it is important to pay the amount for furniture as a separate entity. Yes, we have agreed a price ind...

Re: Making offers for property

Lisa, good luck with your purchase, but just a quick question... Regarding the extra 'bits' that the owner had built, have you (or your lawyer) checked to see whether these are shown on the escritura? In other words, have you verified that the property is legally registered in its current configura...

Re: Making offers for property

Just a quick update and thanks for the comments.

We offered a figure of around 20% below asking price and have settled on somewhere close to 15% less than asking price including furniture.

Re: Free Websites for Property Sales

As somebody looking to buy from the UK. I looked at the Spanish sites (in fact we have a favourite list that has over 100 links to advice and websites for agents etc). I have only the very basic understanding of Spanish and muddled through on them, but relied more heavily on the sites from Kyero, ri...

Re: Making offers for property

We have reflected on our visit and given thought to the offer we want to make etc. And we are going to be calling up the estate agent and making an offer which is around 80% of the asking price. There are some other bits that the agent kept suggesting (added value) but we are agreed that they were s...

Re: Next viewing trip booked!

So, back to Lisa and her thread.....are you looking forward to living in Spain?! Congratulations Miro on your sale and moving back to the UK. You should be aware that the "open" market for electric and gas has made selecting a supplier and minefield. Added to which if you don't have...

Re: Making offers for property

Thank you for your replies and Gordon thank you for taking the time to give background to the types of sellers. We are going to be really cheeky and expect them to say no but we hope that we can show that we are serious buyers. I think the agent knows that we are so hopefully they will be able to pa...

Re: Purchasing Property

So the saga of the lost purchase and difficult vendors continues!!! We had an email today from our lawyer passing on an email from the estate agent suggesting we split our deposit €1500 to each party. We have said no, and said we cannot really think about it as we are out of the country. We have sai...

Re: Making offers for property

The seller is English and has already returned to the U.K. due to family reasons. He has dropped the price in increments to where we are today. I don't know how much it is worth but we are thinking of offering €225k and moving upwards. The asking price is €249. He has already drained the pool accord...

Making offers for property

We have found a property we really like - in fact we love it but after the last time when we rushed in we are holding back on making offers etc. My question is - what do you think an opening offer should be? We have thought making a cheeky offer of 90% of asking price .... but we don't want to insul...

Re: Next viewing trip booked!

The property market in the UK is definitely a sellers market and with more buyers than sellers and the government doing little to help and more to push it upwards it can only go one way! We are selling in the U.K. and then planning to buy a small hole after when the market has dropped. We have a hou...

Re: Getting NIE in England

Aside from passport and the NIE form, can I ask what types of papers/paperwork you need to bring with you (if any) to the consulate? Going down this route sounds a lot less hassle so leaning towards doing it ourselves :) Claire We got the list from the website but didn't need the photos or envelope...

Re: Next viewing trip booked!

Wow Miro.Is this normal? Good luck Loopylisa Thanks. But as to the UK market some areas and particular types of properties are being sold for above the asking price! We live in Kent and houses close to us rarely even have a for sale board - you only know that somebody is moving when the sold board ...

Re: Next viewing trip booked!

The sellers wouldn't agree to anything other than selling to us and then we would have to sort out an easement or similar. And they insisted on the payment of the deposit money paid directly to them immediately. We tried to negotiate and offered them some alternatives but they refused to engage or d...

Next viewing trip booked!

So we are off to Almeria which is the area we really like and have a few properties to look at there. Well 22 to be precise!!!! Rented a property for 6 days and all set. Just wanted some guidance on questions to ask and info to get whilst we are there. This time, all the properties have a drive and ...

Hi, Interesting fact................. "It is believed the superstition against rabbits on ships dates back to the 17th century when, legend has it, a rabbit being carried for food bit through the hold of a warship which sank, killing hundreds on board. Brittany Ferries spokesman Stephen Tuckwe...
