Re: Cyclists

@ costakid - Thanks for the update about the bridge. I'm not a regular cyclist so was pretty shattered by the time I got to the cement factory...and I've got to make the return journey! Thanks for the tip, I'll try that route but will take the train to Malaga first.

Re: Cyclists

@ Paddy .... in my experience Spanish drivers are most courteous to cyclists...I hadn't considered it was traffic laws. I try to keep off the roads as cars are getting wider and roads stay the same width!

Re: Cyclists

I cycled from Benalmadena to the cement factory( I'd seen the tower in the distance and wondered what it was - disappointing when I got there!) near Rincon, mostly along various paseos - nice and flat. I was v impressed with that side of town btw. And the speed I go wouldn't register on any police r...

Supersol in Arroyo sells assorted Chivers marmalades and Chivers lemon curd - maybe other branches do jam.

Re: Property in Malaga province advice please

Hi Solar Re: ‘im a fan of the pueblo’ what is this place? - It is village uphill from the coast - I'm sure would suit you but too far away for your beach requirement. Also ‘arroyo’ where is this location? Is it ‘Arroyo de Miel’ just north of Benalmadena Costa? -Yes it is. Paloma Park’ it seems to be...

Yes, Paloma Park is a gem, and the pueblo has quite a different vibe to the costa but too far from the beach for me!

Re: Train discount card

Hi Costa There's a new system in place. The ticket if you kept it is re-usable so the next time it will be 1.80 again. apparently we can't use the green bus card to pay anymore. You can buy a personalised reusable train card with photo for about 2.50 from the kiosk (id required) If you still have yo...

Re: Property in Malaga province advice please

Hi ... I have a holiday home in Benalmadena Costa, so biased on a West vote. Less than 10 min stroll to beach, 5 mins to bus stops, 15 mins to train station. The train line along the coast from Malaga to Fuengirola with a station at the airport is a big plus. With your budget you're sure able to aff...

Re: Cádiz — a personal guide

We are doing our first cruise in Jan. We noticed the boat we've booked was in Malaga for the day a couple of months ago, so we decided to check it out. It wasn't easy to miss, so we walked to it. Passengers were returning for lunch complaining that Malaga was nothing but bars and shops! Probably the...

Re: Financial Advisors...Again.

It's sad to hear when people are scammed, defrauded or have their money mis-managed, and especially so when relating to pensions when it's too late for them to take corrective action. We only hear the bad news in the press, not about pensioners spending months in the Caribbean and Med after getting ...

Re: Financial Advisors...Again.

In the UK with the relatively new pension freedoms there are certain pension transactions you can't do without a financial advisor - and using one which is regulated will prevent this type of scam.

Re: Electricity Bills

Re my eleccy usage - it's a 2 bed apt in Benalmadena Costa - it hasn't tripped in years but recall it tripping when we had more guess than it is really comfortable to host! Hairdryers were the usual culprit...and the bills are always for 2 months ...so charges before usage come to 25 euros per month.

Re: Electricity Bills

I'm also with Endesa - potencia 4.93kW. I'm billed every 2 mths and it's a holiday home so when empty for a period the bill is just over 50 euros (standing charges, otros coneptos plus taxes). The last bill totalled 83 euros of which about 22 euros was usage and that includes water tank on full time...

Re: Urbanisation squatters

I thought I had squatters yesterday. I received my eleccy bill via email for the apartment. Considering I switched the eleccy off after leaving in January and have not been there since I got a big bill for the last 2 months with loads of usage. Frantic calls thankfully short lived as Endesa pointed ...

Re: English-speaking gestor in Benalmadena/Malaga?

I use Gestoria Bravo. Easy to find using google. They have offices in Fuengirola, Mijas and Benalmadena (Torrequebrada area). Have used for a number of years without a problem...fortunately most of my comms with them are via email ! Find them clear and responsive.
