Know what you mean about Bordeaux.

Have you booked your chunnel crossing on the move on your journey or did you have an open ticket?

Hope the weather stays fine for your Bethune visit on Sunday

Re: Renewing of Padron

Yes. Go to the town hall and ask for it. At our town hall you take the bill for the work to another part of the building (the Tesoria) and hand over the princely sum of 1 euro 10 cents. they then print a receipt to show you have paid and then you go back to the front desk and they print it out for y...

Your favourite local Restaurante

I know we can use Tripadvisor but I thought it might be good to have a thread where folk could say a bit about a favourite local restaurant and why you like them. We are often disappointed by places we choose on days out. Mine would be Atracon in Loja. It has a terrace with reasonable views over the...

40 yrs of agriculture Motril

Saw this in yesterdays Ideal Granada daily. 40 years of Agriculture at the Nave de Azucar de Motril From 18th Oct to 22 Dec 2018. Opening hours Tuesday to Friday 1700 to 2100 Saturday 1800 to 2200 Looked quite interesting. Has anyone been? If so any feedback. Forty years isn't that long! Some of us ...

Re: speeding up Town halls in Spain

June which year? I can never get my headaround figures that compare productivity from one country to another. We had a long running , now resolved issue with IBI which if sorted promptly would have given the town hall about 1000 more euros of our money. The clerk just kept saying dont worry yo...

all the fives.

Five championships for Hamilton - one of the greatest drivers of all time

Five wins for Max who could go on to join Hamilton in the hall of greats.

Five years since Vettel won a championship I think.

Re: Change in workers/labour/autonima Law?

I read something a week or so ago in the Granada daily paper. All common sense stuff.

Quite dissapointing that you have had no replies.

There is a bit in theolivepress.es today but no real detail. I think overall it will be quite good for those few expats working.

Re: Chiringuitos

We have tried several along the Costa del Sol on spec over the years. Always the same grotty result. Not helped by generally awful disabled access and awful toilets.

Maybe we were unlucky. Willing to try one again if recommended.

Re: gota fria this weekend?

There is a very impressive real time forecast on elpais in english website.

It looks as though Marbella to Ronda is getting heavy rain as I type.

We only had 20 litros.

Excellent account. Some good pointers in your accounts for when we next do the run. Haven't been to any of the beaches but have pulled in various battle sites and the immaculate war cemeteries. Very humbling. Also the site where Mrs o's uncle was holed up for three days. He led a charmed life in a t...

Downloading UK TV and playback on TV

I am still struggling with this. We have limited Internet each month (but crucially unlimited during the night) so streaming programmes isn't an option. A plus is it has a UK Ip address - rightly or wrongly. BBC iplayer works brilliantly. Download to either a Win10 laptop and play back on (smart) TV...

Re: Water connection costs

The agent is selling on behalf of theirclient. They may be right about the cost but equally it could be lots more or not possible. A question to ask is why water wasnt in the cave house already? If you do a search , a few years back I did a detailed post on how to drill a bore hole including costs. ...

Re: Specsavers Fuengirola

We have stopped using them. A long way to travel ( for us) and parking was a git compared to our local town. We also felt that their prices were high. Very hard to substantiate as you really would have to buy two identical pairs of glasses to get a definitive answer. Really pleased with our high str...

That must be forecasts as it hasn't actually happened yet. Could be a lot of factors. Turkey is apparently good value and "safe" UK has just had a great summer maybe Brits are expecting another or liked their staycation. The dreaded B word may be a factor though I cannot see that for most ...
