Re: Rainfall.

Crikey. I wrote 12 years ago on that thread " People are taking more water out of wells and bore holes for crop irrigation and other purposes. Plus there are ever more wells being drilled. Our local driller cannot keep up with demand!" Well that was certainly true. He bought a second drill...

Re: Rainfall.

Our fortunes changed ( exactly as forecast on AEMET) last night. Tremendous localised downpours which may have caused damage. Electric on and off with each lightning/thunder. Lavanda, that is interesting about the new fig production. In theory one of the measures that could help counter rural depopu...

Re: Rainfall.

Gosh that is some rain you have been having country boy. Hardly any here further inland, though enough to stop olive harvesting for a day or two. I see the Guardia Civil have had a purge on illegal wells. Hopefully they will continue by area. I doubt it will do much to restore acquifers. I have take...

Re: Empadronamiento

Is that a universal discount ? Or is it specific to areas with a high number of foreigners owning properties and not living there?

I am presuming no such discount exists in the sticks as everyone ( perhaps a big assumption) lives in their house and is on the padron.

Re: INSS in Velez

Can I ask the forum if you are a dependent receiving healthcare from a working partner and you become a UK state pensioner at age 65, do you actually need to change to Spanish healthcare via UK S1. What are the plusses and minuses of doing/ not doing ? Do you have to wait until Spanish retirement ag...

Like I said earlier, the whole thing needs taking to the European Court of Human Rights.

Re: Selling our rural house.

Gordon, good advice but the issue here is that when people have finished integrating and enjoying their life and have to sell up and move perhaps for health or family reasons, there are barriers unknown to achieving that. So the picture painted is not one of a bleak and dismal life here but of issue...

Re: Selling our rural house.

I too read your post several times Terry with a heavy heart. I hope your individual case gets resolved satisfactorily and you can get on with your life. I did have a thought this afternoon that maybe the whole scenario ought to be taken to the European Court of Human Rights. There clearly isn’t a go...

Re: UK Civil Service Pensions post Brexit

Surely you are eligible for your CS oension until you die?

Is this just a letter testing if you are still alive or a prelude to maybe civil service pensions being taxed in your country of residence?

theolivepress.es has the shortage of testers as one of their lead stories. Less busy at the Ronda station apparently....

If you do not get any other replies you could try ringing or emailing the tourist office.

Re: Forum down

Fingers crossed it is an improvement. Sadly my experience with the likes of Microsoft, Skype, Whats up and hotmail just to name a few is improvement actually means integration for the provider and loss of usability for the user. I for one still think the pm facility is cumbersome despite admins expl...

hmm, that worked first time with a test p.m. to you. Thanks.

i will try the one I wanted to send in a couple of hours time

I had even convinced myself that you first had to mark the recipient as "friend". Thankfully not. Cannot imagine when you would mark someone as foe!

Sending pms

I recently have tried to send a pm to two different long standing forum members. To my chagrin , both failed. Looking back on my pm history it looks as though most of my messages are replies to other received messages which worked without issue. Can you clarify what I am doing wrong? Basically I ent...

Re: Buying a rural property - are any legal??

Will our new government make a change to these problems? One of their four platforms is depopulation of rural areas. Something I have witnessed each year. It is a complex subject but the insane difficulties with buying and selling rural houses or even getting permission to work on them cannot be hel...

Re: Seeing Africa last evening from Nerja

A few years back we were delighted to see the mountains of Africa on a day with good visibility. We were descending from the Alpujarras towards the coast. I remember there being a thread on this forum at the time. Doing a google and using the calculator on ringbell.co.uk ( the first one I found) and...

Re: Over tiling

We have had varying degrees of success. More recently we used - clean tiles, brush pva solution and use swimming pool tile adhesive ( from memory about 6 euros a sack). Works great for floor tiles. Had less success on wall tiles in a bathroom which ended up held in place by physics rather than glue....

Re: "Can't hear what they are saying..."

This is one of my bugbears. Partly down to degrade in my hearing with age and partly due to poor programme production. The latter seems to be open season for adding effects, many of which are deafening. You know they are added as you have things like foxes barking or loons calling. An easy quick fix...

Anyone tried either of the places outside in my original post?

We needed a certificate today and the guy said we also needed to renew as it was five years since last renewal.

Simple and fast process. Produce your tatty green residencia card. No charge for the process.
