Re: Capital gains tax for OAPs house sale

Thanks Beachcomber. The residency and tax return elements isn't a problem. On my notional figures, a 23% tax would be 30 to 40k, Am I right in saying that there isn’t a tax bill if you invest some of the sale proceeds in a downsizing property as your main residence and keep the rest of the capital?

Capital gains tax for OAPs house sale

At some stage we will have to sell our campo home and move into a town as age creeps on. Am I right in thinking there will be no capital gains to pay if we are both OAPs at point of sale ? Is that Spanish retiring age? If so , what age would my partner need to be? She is currently working. We think ...

Carmona, Ecija and Osuna

We need to collect something from a village between these three towns. Rather than two journeys of three hours each way we are planning two nights and some sightseeing. We have been to Osuna a few times and Carmona back in the 80’s. Current choice of two of three hotels, Casa- palacIo de carmona, Do...

Re: Milky coffee

I'm pretty sure you're taking the pi55 here, Nescafe ? Nothing wrong with Nescafe . I too take a flask especially if going somewhere with no cafes around for hours. Just come back from the UK. My dad has some “ you must try this” Marks and Spencer coffee flavoured with toasted yak dung or similar.

Re: Tunein radio losing the Beeb

Might be tied up with iplayer for radio app being phased out. UK IP users have been getting a message for a while now saying use this new app. I have downloaded it but not logged in to the new app yet.

In your case , it would be a third reason. Your looks. :lolno: They are trained to spot trouble makers ( shifty looks, yellow jackets, baseball caps worn backwards, petrol blue sunglasses etc.

Re: I'm now free to visit Spain again.

We got one earlier in the year in France. It was only tens of euros and just not worth the risk of being detained entering France on a future trip in the same vehicle.

Milky coffee

Anyone an expert on Andalucian coffee. Not talking the ghastly Costa offerings but the standard cafe con leche for around 1.20 . On our travels around Andalucia we find some variations in strength which I don't think is down to make of coffee used. Cumbal is nice. I even suspect sometimes when you a...

OAP subsidised holidays

Does anyone have any information about these holidays for pensioners please? Is it called Imerso?

Do you automatically get invites on reaching pensionable age or do you have to register?

Anyone been on one?

Re: Alcaudete/iznajar

I am surprised that you haven't had any replies. Cannot help with Alcaudete but would say Iznajar has a charm. We took a visitor there last week. Plenty of photo opportunities. The pantano is pretty low. I prefer it fuller however some interesting photo opportunities for example former river bridges...

Re: Skip / contenedor

There is a yard with hundreds of skips in it on the right in a yard surrounded by a red castellated wall (opposite the Opel garage) as you come into Granada on the Santa Fe road. I suspect that would be too far away. Better might be to ask at your local builders merchants. They would know of someone...

1.5 ceramic sink with drainer

You would think it would be easy to find such a thing here in Spain.

Looking for a white ceramic sink plus small bowl and drainer. Have tried the DIY sheds to no avail. Ditto Porcelanosa.

Plenty in England sub £200 but carriage might be prohibitive.

Anyone know of a supplier here please?

Re: Sold the house in Andalucia. Here's how it went.

Yes an excellent and informative post. Only this morning I considered posting a “how did you get on with your return trip , especially Bilbao” . That can wait I guess. Some of our campo friends have sold and are moving to a rented piso on the Costa del Sol. Food for thought as we are not getting any...

Re: Village near Torres Cabrera Estacion ffcc

Hi Stephen. Had a few thoughts about your request. Have you the Google earth co ordinates for this village? A google search throws up very little. I live maybe 60 miles away ( 2 hours as the roads are poor). Not an area we visit often and not in the heat of summer. I don't know if you have other lin...

Thick ceiling paint

We have an uneven 3 by 3 metre ceiling to paint.

Anyone know of a thick finish paint that would hide some of the imperfections and give a good finish please? Maybe matt if available.

Dog mess rules - Ronda area

Saw something on olivepress the other day saying dog owners could be fined for not having a dog poo bag or a bottle of water. I think most responsible pet owners carry a bag. What is the bottle for? Are you expected to wash away dog urine? Are these general rules in Andalusia.? On a separate note. W...
