Re: New Electricity Connection.

A neighbour has a basic electrical connection to his house like yours. Fit for a television and a few lights and has never been upgraded. The price for the upgrade came in at 4000 euros. A suspiciously round figure. However that is to upgrade the single phase bell wire over four pylon spans to the n...

Re: Leroy Merlin - Little Faith

Just had a thought. Do LM offer “chat” on their website? You could ask there. I suspect one person is dealing with a number of chats at a time which gives you the chance to use google translate if you dont fully understand a response. I suspect you are right with the customer service difference betw...

Re: Leroy Merlin - Little Faith

I wish you luck with that quest. The curse of the "curfew". By the time you have done the morning chores and driven anywhere they are closed. I found that problem with the Granada store but asking at the desk near the entrance they got someone from that department to man the returns desk. ...

Re: SPANISH EXAM DELE FOR NATIONALITY CHANGE

You will of course now be perfectly equipped to give advice to expats like they are painting the outside of the house at the wrong time of the year.

Don't forget to switch the tv on the minute you get up for the day.

Re: parking fines in UK

Is the £55 a standard fee for dealing with motoring offences including parking offences? If so it would seem reasonable. Never heard about the refill your car within five miles and an hour before. What happens if you fill up and then have a meal before handing the car back? I use Leeds Bradford and ...

Re: Passport control post Brexit

Expats are allowed to vote. Not sure what your point has got to do with this thread. At the moment all anyone can offer is opinion because nobody knows. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing at all changed due to chipped passports. Maybe at UK airports UK passport holders will have our own smaller lan...

Re: Passport control post Brexit

Was it Mark Twain that said

If voting made a difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.

Maybe it is for the best that pesky expats might not be able to vote.

Re: More4 on Film4 907

Sorry , didn't see that.

Don't know whether it is a plus or not. Most more4 scheduling seems to be Location, place in the sun, helicopter what is your emergency? Didn't watch much on Film 4 as the evening films finished so late.

Re: Passport control post Brexit

But will it? Us law abiding rule following citizens quake at being embarrassed in a queue of folk. Anyone with the brass neck to disregard rules would just shrug. Have they got the manpower to process folk? , create inevitable bad will and bad press ( I can just see the headlines " ill Grandmot...

All done and dusted, thanks.

The Spanish system is very efficient. The paperwork received is very prompt and is what is required for anything at the UK end.

Re: Roofing Costs

Sorry cannot help with traditional roofing costs. I suspect mixing modern plasterboard faced insulated boards with old uneven wooden beams would be difficult and involve a lot of ugly packing pieces. You need to get some or a builder quotes and advice. You may find the builder would suggest all new ...

Re: Roofing Costs

I can give you some prices on this method. Our local blacksmith/metal worker erects a frame and then affixes the approx 12 cm thick insulated roof sheets on to it. The sheets he uses come with a nice mock effect tile look(choice of colours available) , sheets are 1 metre wide and different lengths. ...

Three more dog friendly hotels ES-UK

Stayed in a lot of hotels on our recent 55 day trip . I have three very different offerings for the route between UK and Spain. First is the Best Western Hermitage in Mireuil sur mer ( in Northern France) . Wifi, dog friendly and coffee making facilities. Secure parking around the back. Good breakfa...

Re: Having a car to use in UK

Yet another issue that is not easy to address for people who dont spend all their time in one country.

How about you being a named driver on your daughters car insurance with her as the owner? For daughter substitute any other family member.

Most people just lie and pretend they also live in the UK.

Re: Leroy Merlin/Bauhaus Delivery

Granada Leroy Merlin store might be cheaper on delivery charges. Worktop. Try the small woodworkers near the rear of Morenos builders merchant in Loja. We need two just over 3 metre lengths next week. Have you tried ceferino in Huetor Tajar. They deliver to us for a fee. 180 euros seems quite reason...

Re: Adverts

Have you seen the bus stop advertising hoardings in the uk that change to something targetted at you , based on your mobile phone, as you approach. In Australia as you walk by shops the adverts can change to suit you and an offerpings on your phone five dollars off ( something it knows you have been...
