Exchange Rates

Postby anyroads » Wed Aug 22, 2018 5:34 pm

Anyone have any idea where we are going ?.

BREXIT has not helped of course.

Bought a few Euros in town earlier at at just over 1.08, at Debenhams of all places. Hardly makes any difference to shop around at the moment, rates are so poor. One saving grace, I got a £5 voucher to go against my purchases in the store a few minutes later, which had already been discounted by 70%
( not sure what that says about Debenhams, or where they are going ! )

Every little helps as they say.

Agree about the exchange rates! Debenhams could be going the same way as House of Fraser, i read they have several stores lined up for closure. shame it's got to this..

Another currency firm went bust last week, many people lost large sums. Seems to have been mainly in the Algarve according to Sunday Times.

Debenhams has been going downhill for a few years. Shame about House of Fraser, always popped in there on my way to Victoria station. Everyone shops online now, more choice and easy returns etc

I am thinking that the exchange rate is languishing in response to the utter uncertainty over where the B word is going. No deal? Hard Brexit? Dogs Breckers? Even softer dogs breckers? Will the EU bend even a little? What drama to the political scene will Autumn and conference season bring?

One thing for certain, there will be some fortunes made and lost in eight months time and it won’t be small currency exchanges.

Instability (real or engineered) = Opportunity, for the casino market.
