CENSORSHIP RULES OKAY
CENSORSHIP RULES OKAY
NOTHING MORE TO ADD!!!!!!!!!!
Re: CENSORSHIP RULES OKAY
Only another 53 posts and you'll be able to view the threads in the Amigos Lounge, which is where the posts are supposed to be if they're not about Andalucia.
I think Sid was right to move a couple of threads.

Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient.

It is not censorship - it is the site rules.barry wrote:Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient.

Re: CENSORSHIP RULES OKAY
Then change the thread name to SITE RULES RULES OKAY or is external censorship pressure being applied. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors and PMs.

Re: CENSORSHIP RULES OKAY
It matters not........
If like me your news and views extend beyond the narrow boundaries of “Andalusia” then walk with your fingers.
This site is OK but there are many many other, and let’s be honest, better forums/sites than this one with a far wider range of topics available. These, on so called Specialist Sites, have areas that come under the heading of “Off-Topic”, “Members Lounge” etc. etc. and are open to all .... not just the selective few and suffer little censorship [except in the obvious cases].
As a business we monitor and contribute on about 4-5 sites AND advertise on them all. Even though we work, employ and offer specific services in this region it is something [advertise] we would not do on this site largely because of its narrow topic range, inconsistent moderation, and hence low active membership .......
Censorship?........... No loss........

Re: CENSORSHIP RULES OKAY
There are loads of expat forums.
A quick Google will pull up loads
http://goo.gl/fQGlw
It's horses for courses - what suits one person doesn't suit another. I would have thought that most serious forum users would be accessing at least 4 or 5.
If you want somewhere where contentious, non Spain posts are acceptable, here's an example.
http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=173
This forum , as it says on the tin, is for people wanting information about Andalucia and in that objective it succeeds well. However, from my experience forum members often want to discuss topics that aren't directly relevant. There is the "General" section but that is primarily there to cater for topics, that while they are associated with the region, don't naturally fit into the other forum sections. It is not a section for totally not relevant posts which it seems to have been moving towards recently.
The Amigos Lounge is a "no holds barred" section but it is not available to everyone - you need to have made 250 posts to gain entry - some might consider that discriminatory or elitist - I couldn't possibly comment
I will be talking to the site owners to see if we can come up with a way of handling this clear need from some posters.
Bear with me on this, we don't want censorship, neither do we want to dilute the stated aims of this forum.
I will get back to you in due course.

Re: CENSORSHIP RULES OKAY
I need to make it clear that I am not having a dig at Andalucia.com or that I have any particular issues with AC......... I have more to do and can take it or leave it.
AC is a small access site, just take a look at the numbers on-line at any given time. I just think that a more easily accessed area for "Off Topic" or call it what you will, can only be a good thing. But in truth I care not!
But there is loads of interesting Andalusia information out there...... look at some of the excellent blogs and then cross reference.
I PM’d this back to a member a few moments ago which I hope also explains.....
The 4 or 5 sites [and more] are sites that are specific to our business and interests are Motorhome/Caravan, 4x4, bike etc. etc. touring and as I mentioned all have an "off topic" area for other points and the rare argument!
I think this is common with all "interest" sites that are not over-moderated.
As for Andalusia sites and blogs [that lead to interesting information and topics] we have found far too many to list here.......just Google and then lateral search..

Sid, won't you be censored for putting links to other fora on
Re: CENSORSHIP RULES OKAY
If you think moderators are bad on here wait till you post on the expat forum there are moderators on there that are a total nightmare.Been there done that and only go on there to read posts never comment.
It always seems imposible until its done. Nelson Mandela

Re: CENSORSHIP RULES OKAY
I always avoid like the plague anything that has the word 'expat' in the title. It is up there with 'Team GB', 'Actually', 'Absolutely' and 'Sumpthink' to name but a few!
Let's go Brandon!

I assume it's about the Olympic security and fear based society threads being moved to an area that the OPs are unable to access.Mowser wrote:Would someone please enlighten me as to why this thread was started? Thanks.
