Car Hire in the UK...

We are off to Scotland shortly and are wondering which website is best to book car hire with?

Some look great to start with...then shove on an extra 50 quid for a babies car seat!

Any recommendations appreciated. We are picking up in Glasgow. (Touring the Western Isles and Highlands so any tips on that gratefully appreciated too)

For hires of more than a few days we usually use webcarhire.com. They don't charge for a second driver, which can save a lot. Don't know about baby seats. They also don't charge for one way hires - pick up and drop off at different places - that also saves a lot if you need it. Have a good time.

I use Argus car rentals, who are agents. They put me with Alamo at LGW, and I had an Insignia, for a weekend (2days). Original quote was £95, but it ended up costing me €198 with the fuel charge and the additional driver and insurance.

I used webcarhire last visit. Very satisfied. Car was from Alamo/Enterprise, but cheaper than if going direct. The no-charge one-way hire was the clincher (LGW-Liverpool)
