Best time of the year to visit

Postby MartinBeard » Sat Feb 25, 2017 12:37 am

Hello all,

I know this might sound like a redundant question to some but please bear with me. I simply wanted to find out what time of the year was the best time to visit andalucia? I am someone who really likes being outdoors, hiking, swimming or doing some other form of physical activity so if there is a time of the year that is best for these kind of activities please let me know. if you have any other tips and pointers for potential visitors (maybe something you tried during your own trip there) I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Weather wise May and June are really warm and pleasant or September and October . Both periods are also quieter.

I would say late Spring. Everywhere is still fresh from Spring regeneration and not faded as in Autumn.

If you are a hay fever sufferer you may find olive tree pollen a problem as late as end of May.

It is not just olive trees that are a problem in the spring, there are plenty of grasses and other herbs that can be a real nightmare.

Hahaha. Never thought about dog-*beep* smell. Old railway lines have walking routes called Via Verde. You can hire cycles there at Olvera for example and other places. Camino del Rey gorge is worth a visit. Also El Torcal outside of Antequera is a sight to see

Thanks for all the helpful replies guys, and also for the informative side note about the dog-*beep* smell

This is really going to help me plan my trip much better, so I appreciate it. Do any of you know if there is a thread on here where people have put up pictures from their trips? I'd like to see a more accurate representation through the eyes of locals or tourists not just what google images generates.

Thanks again
