La Cala del Moral Beach front restaurants/bars

Postby olive » Wed Jun 20, 2018 6:34 pm

Last night a party of us went to see the Cirque du Soleil in Malaga. Truly excellent show.

Afterwards ,once we had escaped the heavy traffic, we went to the "coast" for a drink and a snack. La Cala Del Moral was mentioned on the St Juan thread So I took us there. It was a mixed bag. I had hoped for a beach front ( Like Fuengirola would have been fine) but having got into the town we couldn't find anywhere beach frontish, no tunnels either but we did see a big cement works earlier! and settled for the square in front of the Casa de Cultura once we had actually found somewhere to park. It was midnight by now and the place on the right in the square was actually quite nice with enjoyable food.

Should I have gone on further ? Any better suggestions? That area is actually quite handy for us as we just nip up the M20? (24?) and then pick up the coast motorway to get onto the A45 inland. Back home and in bed by 3.30!

When we go to la cala we park around supersol. If you had kept going past the main square on the road infront of it literally for a couple of mins in the car supersol is on the left at the roundabout where theres a carpark or street parking next to the church.you then cross over the road there and walk straight down to the coast There is a couple of carparks right on the front but you get to them down side streets and we can never remember which turn to take. Walking down pretty much any side street off the road that runs through the town will take you to the front and the prom which if you walk east will take you around through the tunnels and into rincon.

We always walk around to rincon and have lunch at kikos restaurant on the front. Really good fish

ok, coming in from Malaga side drive through La Cala, over the roundabout and take the next right, that is Calle Estacion. It goes in a loop to the right parallel with road you have just turned off and also alongside the beach.100 metres on left is a car park. There around 6 beachside restaurants along there. The last 2 before the tunnels are my favs, the last one is more of a beach bar and the other is a proper restaurant. It is always very quiet along there out of season on a Monday and Tuesday. Chaos in summer as you would expect. The walk through the tunnels takes 10 minutes into Rincon.

The Plaza has a few nice bars and our fav is Bar Alegria. It is cheap and cheerful and always open.

Thanks for those tips. We will try those places next time.

It was bar Alegria in the plaza that we ended up in.

The Lamb Tagine in Algeria is lovely. On a summers night its a lovely spot and it also gets the sun in the winter. La Cala property is really undervalued considering how close to Malaga it is. The seafront walk to Rincon is a real gem.

Costakid- bit of feedback. We have been there several times. Latest was today. Height of the season. 20 mins from airport pickup. Had a nice meal at the second from last spot then a lovely walk through the tunnels before a drink at the last spot. All very civilised and not at all busy. Great suggestion, thanks.
