Andalucian Rug

Postby carrotmuseum » Mon Nov 11, 2019 8:19 pm

Where can I purchase a small, but genuine, Andalucian rub, in or around Malaga. I will be staying in Antequera.

I suggest that you read what you wrote....edit and correct it unless you want to get suggestions that may be unwelcome.....

Hi

Is it an Andalucian RUB or an Andalucian RUG you are looking for. I think you should edit your posting to make it clear to other Forum Users

Hi carrotmuseum
Welcome to the forum.
Is this the sort of thing you are looking for? https://www.andalucianrugs.com/rugs/
If so you can probably find them in any gift type shop in any white village in the Antequera area.
Sorry I don't know that area so can't specify any particular village.
Cheers
Gerry
Corrected the link.

I'm guessing the OP meant rug as that is what the title of the thread shows (the B and G keys are next to each other on the keyboard).

Carrotmuseum, if what you are looking for is a traditional Alpujarran rug (jarapa alpujarrena) then the best place to get them is in the Alpujarra region itself. If you look up the towns Bubión and Capileira you will see where they are. If you can't get to the Alpujarra then I guess it would be a question of asking around in Antequera or Malaga, and/or doing a web search.

It's just a typo! Don't make so much fuss about it or you will drive a new member away.

She bought it in a gift/ceremic shop in Competa I'm now told.

And that shop in Compete buys all his stuff from Morocco. I have ordered from them in the past. The best place to go for a rug is Bubion or the other joining 2 villages. Well worth a trip out but it can be very cold up there. Nice walks if you enjoy village hopping.

There were 4 shops that I know of in Competa selling these rugs.

If you actually want a Spanish RUB, may I recommend any supermarket queue on a busy day...no sense of personal space in my experience. It can be very unsettling LOL.

Try googling alfombras andaluz (hope the spelling is correct)
Notice the OP hasn't been back! Interesting subject though. They can be quite expensive. My neighbour in London worked for Gadaffi and gave us a lovely thick rug but the dog peed on it :)

I paid 60 euros for a large middle of the floor alpujarra rug in lanjaron this summer so a small one would be half the price.
