Black Tie Ball

Postby Paddy Pumpkin » Sun Sep 23, 2018 11:04 am

Myself and the wife would like to get dressed up and have an evening out.

Does anyone know of any, preferably charity related dinners, where we can put on our glad rags?

Location wise we are happy to travel pretty much anywhere on the coast as we will stay in a local hotel.

Also timing wise anytime of the year as we would hope it will become a regular thing for us

Only real criteria is that we would like it to be a charity we would actively support and that black tie for gents is compulsory

Paddy P,
There doesn't seem to many such events in formal dress nowadays..Most advertised as 'smart casual dress'.

We used to sell masses of Dinner Jackets etc in Spain,20 years ago, but now the young people wear them with jeans, usually for the New Year.

I have oodles of black ties and bow ties and wing collar shirts and LBD's for the ladies if anyone ever needs to borrow same.... :D

Regards,
Gentleman Gordon..

Just found this item on Facebook - very reputable charity for distressed donkeys, mules, etc. The "do" is in Mijas ...

Wow - that is a bit long - sorry! Not very good at links from Facebook - just hope it works.
This might work better ...

It is this Sunday so may be too short notice, but they may have others! A worthy cause ...

Also, have a look online for Cudeca events:
https://www.cudeca.org/en/news_and_events/

I often see black-tie and evening dress fundraisers in Euro Weekly News (you could have a read of the online version of that, also; it has a lot of social fundraiser features) organised by/for Cudeca, and you'd be supporting a worthwhile hospice.

Even now in late September, I don't envy you as buttoned up collars and jackets kill me in anything above 15C. The school leavers' do every June was my annual must-dress-up. I once did a bit of ravey-wavey-Dave dancing with the kids and the management thought the sprinkler system had been set off.
