Torrox blue parking
Any Torrox residents out there. More and more of the costa parking spaces are turning blue. How do they work? Do i have to get a permit from somewhere in order to use them?

Re: Torrox blue parking
Usually you just get a ticket from a nearby parking meter. I haven't been to Torrox for several years but presumably it will be the same procedure.
Re: Torrox blue parking
The blue parking spaces in Torrox Costa are, I believe, mainly for residents.
I believe you can get a "parking permit" from local shops.
Totally different than the blue parking areas, in most towns, where you buy a parking ticket from a meter.
Also Rincon de la Victoria have some which is for use overnight by residents only.

All designed, by Torrox and Rincon town halls, to confuse.

Re: Torrox blue parking
Never noticed any meters anywhere in the vicinity, and I'm thinking mainly about the road to the lighthouse. I have a vague recollection of seeing it mentioned in a forum or facebook some time ago that you need to obtain a permit from somewhere local. But sadly no recollection where that may be.

Re: Torrox blue parking
Been doing some searching and all the pages i have found describing the system are 5 years old or more. They do mention the times that blue zones operate and say that you have to purchade a 'clock' from a local establishment. But not who/where the local establishment may be.

Torrox blue parking - The Guide
OK The blue parking areas are operable, regrettably, in July and August only. I have not noticed any extension in the last three years.
I say regrettably because I think it is a smashing idea.
Parking is allowed for a maximum of two hours and controlled by display of a clock.
The Local Police DO monitor and issue tickets.
The clock costs 1€ and is available from the Tourist Office, that's in the same block as Sabadell towards the Bus Station.
There are extensions to the hours for Siesta and at night.
A similar scheme operates in the Pueblo all year and the maximum is variable with a minimum of one hour at peak times.
It's a different clock for the Pueblo and I think mine came from the Tabac.

Re: Torrox blue parking
You have to get a parking disk for the blue bays in torrox. You pay for the disk not to park. In the peak of summer parking in them is restricted to i think a couple of hrs or so. it was brought in as it was damaging shops etc as others were parking up all day at the beach and people wanting to go into the shops there couldnt find anywhere to park
Re: Torrox blue parking
I have just said that.

You get the Costa one (blue) on the Costa. You have to go to the Pueblo to get the (green) clock for there.
Do you know the Pueblo Tourist office ? they will tell you where to get the Pueblo clock.

Re: Torrox blue parking
We only need the costa one as we hardly ever go into the pueblo. Only on the odd occasion tjat we have to go into our gestor's office. Whereas costa we go quite frequently except in tourist season, then only if we really have to.
I'm assuming that the building I'm looking for on the costa is the pretty one next to the bike shop, opposite the roundabout.

Re: Torrox blue parking
Do you actually need to get all the different colours or do you think they'll accept that the time on a green clock is the same as the time on a blue clock?
I suppose it is a racket for the town halls but when I parked on Torrox Costa last summer I used a blue clock I brought with me from France. Maybe I was lucky but I didn't get a ticket.

Re: Torrox blue parking
From what i read on the we the pueblo clocks are 1 hour whereas the costa clocks are 2 hours. But that may have changed as those pages were pretty old.

Re: Torrox blue parking
So they've made it more complicated on purpose I guess. On the French clocks you just set the time you arrived and let the parking wardens do the maths when they come by.

Re: Torrox blue parking
Does Torrox actually have any traffic wardens? If so how do they afford it as parking is free?

Two clocks are required they are different colours and calibration. Mine are in the car but I'll give an answer tomorrow.
These have a arrival time and a departure time.
and to Sid the Local Police do it.

Torrox Costa.
10.00 to 22.00 parking limited to 2hours Monday to Friday, Saturday 10.00 to 14.00 It doesn't say on the clock but July and August only.
Torrox Pueblo
Monday to Friday parking limited to 1 hour 09.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00 all year round.
The clocks are calibrated to reflect this.
I hope this helps.

And they do check and if you do not have the correct colour you will get a fine.
So just be warned.

Re: Torrox blue parking
parking in Las Palmas within blue line areas is totally free and without time limit, I wonder if they understand the amount of revenue they're missing ?
