Health care in UK
Posted this seperatley as the last thread went a bit pear shaped. If you have an E106 or an E121, you have given up your right to automatic health care in the UK unless you return as a visitor and have an E111 equivalent for emergency treatment only. This is because the NHS pays an anual fee to the government of the country in which you now reside to cover health care costs. This can be reversed if you return to the UK on a permanent basis, but does need to be done by the overseas dept at Newcastle. Loads of people think they can just 'pop' back to the UK and have something sorted on the NHS, but it's a bit like having your cake and eating it!
Health Care in UK
This is taken directly from the form sent to me by Newcastle:
If you or any of your dependants return to the UK on a visit you will only be entitled to NHS medical teratment if you fall ill or have an accident during your visit.
Planned treatment
If you or any of your dependants, want to come back to the UK for specific NHS medical treatment you must ask at the office which registered your form E121 for a form E112 certificate concerning the return of the right to sickness or maternity benefits currently being provided. It will be for that office to decide on the issue of a form E112
