Foodstuffs via Amazon

Postby hillybilly » Tue Apr 17, 2012 10:08 pm

Just in case any of you don't already know this (and I only found out by chance last week!) you can now order lots of foodstuffs from Amazon (Indian, Oriental etc even baked beans!) with free delivery to Spain if your order is over 25GBP. The best bargains are to be had if you buy in bulk of course but you could always club together with a friend!

Thanks Hillybilly.
I have just ordered some Pataks curries (actually out of stock atm but they will send them when they have them - 6 jars for 6GBP) , teabags, sugar-free muesli and a slow cooker.
Just got to wait for them to be delivered now.

I will be interested to see how this goes. I know people in UK that ordered a weekly shopping through Amazon but, because different suppliers were involved, that shopping arrived in 6 different deliveries. Not exactly convenient. Matbe they have that sorted now.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

Friends up in Galicia told me about the service - their order arrived all in one go I believe.
I've ordered Patak's curry pastes too, Thai green curry paste, pumpkin seeds, basmati rice and 24 tins of baked beans at 33p a tin  Going to need considerably bigger kitchen cupboards...

Looks as if my order will be coming in 2 deliveries...tho both dispatched on the same day via MRW so don't know why! Probably to do with the size/weight of 24 tins of baked beans

Here we go:
I have received emails for 2 of the 3 curry pastes
"We regret to inform you that we have been unable to source the following item:....."
..and the third one's delivery date has been put back!
The rest of the order has been dispatched.

I received my sugar-free muesli and jam and my slow cooker today via MRW but as usual I had to go down to the office in Torre Del Mar to pick it up. The guy always asks me if I can sign for a parcel and leave it with Salvador in Bar Chiringuito in Sedella for him!! I am still waiting for Amazon to source the curry pastes tho'

Guys, what is it with these elusive curry pastes  ....11 years ago yes, we took Pataks over with us on hols to do the odd kebab on the coals, However now it's available just about anywhere, even in our local village of 80 people the Coviran stocks it.

People still ask me to take salad cream across for flips sake  .....again available everywhere in town, costa and campo.

Am I looking at the wrong site, as it appears that the Pataks pastes are all around 5.49 GPB each (I pay 3€ locally) and the sauces are 3.49GPB each, which are more expensive than here. There were a few 6 packs of sauces but I couldn't see anything for 6 pounds, Pataks Balti sauce is 21.99 for 6! Or have all the special offers gone
