Thank you so much for that James, very interesting and much appreciated.

I still have my issues to be resolved and an appointment with the consultant in Granada on 4 Oct could see me placed on a 5 month waiting list! I have the opportunity to return to the UK and have it done privately which I am looking into at the moment.

Update on my 16 Aug post.
Had the laminectomy operation on L3-L4-L5 on Monday 22nd Aug.
I was in hospital until the Wednesday.
All seemed OK, the following week developed an infection in the operation area. Doctor removed 2 of the staples and opened up the wound to allow it to drain. Then on 2 lots of painkillers and 2 lots of antibiotics.
The antibiotics cleared up the infection.
Saw the doctor last night for the " 4 week after the op" checkup.
No pains in my right leg but sill get pains in my left leg.
He explained that the nerves on that side had been damaged and found the spine deterioration problem was far worse than he had thought when he opened me up for the operation.
He believes (hopes?) the nerves should regenerate themselves over the next couple of months.
Now on painkillers for 6 weeks and due to see him again in 5 weeks time to see if there is any reduction in the pain.
Cheers
Gerry
