Thanks for that....have looked at the site Gerry but can’t work out which Dept I would need regarding S1.
Re: INSS in Velez
Only guessing, my Spanish is not very good, but I would try the "Asist. Sanitaria Nacional(Inclusión Beneficiarios), Información Prestaciones de Asistencia Sanitaria Nacional (inclusión de beneficiarios, servicios médicos y farmaceúticos, etc.)" option.

Thanks for that. It’s a bit difficult as I already have health care as my husbands dependant so I am not new to the process, I will, however give it a go and maybe they will be helpful and point me in the right direction.

There is a very large chap who works there.....avoid at all costs if possible. He is the ultimate "computer says no" mentality. He see's it as his main function to make your life as difficult as possible.....especially if you are an extranjero....sad but true.

Can anyone tell me what documentation I will need to take with me. Thanks

Can I ask the forum if you are a dependent receiving healthcare from a working partner and you become a UK state pensioner at age 65, do you actually need to change to Spanish healthcare via UK S1. What are the plusses and minuses of doing/ not doing ? Do you have to wait until Spanish retirement age ? ( is that currently 66 and a half?)
Re: INSS in Velez
I have been on the healthcare system as my husbands dependant since 2002. However with Brexit looming I thought I better apply in my own right, because, God forbid, should anything happen to him, I would not be covered for healthcare.
Re: INSS in Velez
Sites always advise to do it on your own right when you can. What if your partner loses their job or dies. You can apply once you get to uk state pension age and have your S.1.you need to ring newcastle overseas healthcare to apply for it a month or so before.olive wrote:Can I ask the forum if you are a dependent receiving healthcare from a working partner and you become a UK state pensioner at age 65, do you actually need to change to Spanish healthcare via UK S1. I would take your existing medical card as well. I did this recently and it was an easy process. You keep your existing number and your old card will work OK.

You have to book online, not by phone. If you don't have a mobile do it on your PC. I think you can just turn up without an appointment but it could be a long wait.

Re: INSS in Velez
I have finally received my S1 form from England and thought I would post here in case anyone ever has to do this in the future. You can ring 901106570(ring 24hrs). It is a question and push button answer. Be aware though it is only available in Spanish(very fast Spanish) so if you are not very good I would advise a Spanish speaker to do it for you. First they ask why you want the appt. they give you 3 options you want the third. Then it asks for your post code. Next question is your NIE number. You are then told your nearest centre and given a reference number and date and time. Not a long wait appt. is only next week. I hope that someone might find this useful. Paperwork you will need, Passport and copy, Residencia and copy, Padron and copy, and your health card if you already have one(I have taken a copy of this just to be sure.
