Don Chisciotte, Nerja

If anyone is looking for a good restaurant in Nerja, we had dinner last night at Don Chisciotte and can highly recommend it. It's Italian food but the menu is more interesting, imaginative and modern than the run of the mill pasta/pizza offerings. I had bruschetta of polenta with setas and gorgonzola cream sauce, followed by fettucine with fresh crab and cherry tomatoes, both delicious. Another member of our party had salmon in a black salt crust served on a bed of spinach with tiny roast potatoes, which also looked lovely. They serve cubes of bread with olive oil and black salt for dipping as an amuse bouche, a vodka and watermelon sorbet between the starter and main course, and an Italian liqueur of your choice, all included in the price. Our bill for 4 came to €116 (for 2 courses each, 2 bottles and 2 glasses of wine, and water) - a bit more expensive than the average Italian but we felt it was well worth it. The restaurant is decorated in contemporary style with a black and white theme, even the chairs are really comfortable and the tables nice and big so no jostling for space to fit all the dishes, glassware etc. Service was excellent too. The only thing that is perhaps a bit odd is the location, just on the edge of Plaza Tutti Frutti as you come in from Av. Castilla Perez, but I suppose the diners will be gone long before the bars there get going!
