Any suggestions on what to do to celebrate New Year's Eve in the Marbella area?

Go to Orange Square where there will be a live band. Or pay a few hundred Euros each for dinner with open bar which are a rip off

Or we can try a helpful reply instead of the "usual" ones of being ripped off and avoid spending your money  . So where are you based ? Which side of Marbella ? San Pedro side or Malaga side ?

So what's wrong with Orange Square, central whichever side you live at  :wtf:

@Scotty, thanks for your helpful reply. We are on the Málaga side of Marbella, between Elviria and Cabopino. We are looking for a function where we won't be ripped off (Don Carlos, €280 per person - forget it! )
@Katy, nothing wrong with Orange Square :D . However, I imagine it might be difficult to get into a restaurant there on New Year's Eve.

Try Da Bruno at Cabopino. Good food.

Thanks Costakid. Does Da Bruno have a good atmosphere?

It often has entertainment. We never managed to get the bill less than €100 for two including wine and that was some time ago. Overpriced for what is effectively a chain with about 6 restaurants. Ok. But average.

I disagree Katy, I have eaten there and its always been good. Not the cheapest but also not Marbella silly prices. Fish is good.

Da Bruno seems to be 120€ a person for New years Eve. Have a look at http://www.dabruno.com/contenido/menu263_2.pdf

You need to go inland for the good value - we used to go to a local hotel in Archidona for a five? course meal (can't remember exactly); 'party bag'; unlimited free wine (basic but OK) / soft drinks with the meal; grapes at midnight; free unlimited whisky, rum, baileys, beer & soft drinks after the meal; cava at midnight; dancing (OK, only CDs); and if you were still there at 4 am, breakfast (hot soup & a roll) - cost ? The last one we went to (probably 5 years ago) was €55 per head :D

@chrissiehope, that sounds great, but I think the price of a taxi to Archidona would offset the money saved on the meal and drink.

Not for new year then but Archidona is well worth a drive out. Some nice places to eat in the old town.We go on a Saturday or Sunday sometimes, 40 minutes from malaga.

The menu at Bruno's doesn't exactly grab you. There seems to be no choice for main unless I missed something. Problem is with these New Year do's is if you are not familiar with the place it could be empty. A bit dire sat in a half empty place with a party bag.

We have never been to the Cabopino one, always went to the one in Marbella as the setting is good. Good pizza.
