Soon as I get back I will have to do exactly that then - just to keep our local Santander manager happy. Ah well, such is life. But what a waste of our time and money.

Cheers

Santander!!! Yes, well.

Wouldn't it be easier just to go to another bank?

Hi Alcala Barry.
Did you get your original NIE locally ( in Alcala :?: ) or did you have to go to Jaen :?:

Hi Barry,
Ours was for the Green stay after 90days form............so had to make an appointment ( since been pointed out on A.com), then took forms back and the Police official wasn't there .

Not done an NIE. That was sorted by a third-party.

Enrique

How did you make an appointment for the Green Card? Can it be done online?

Hi Barry,
On our first trip we picked up the Forms and made an appointment.
You could try phoning................

http://www.seap.minhap.gob.es/en/minist ... Jaen.Sede1

You can get the .pdf copy of the Form from the sede electrónica site, will need Adobe Reader, Foxit fails to load form.

Unless you need the Form for a project then with only three months date stamp best to hold off, we recently got a Licencia de obra with an undated (pre 2014) Green Form. Had other hoops to jump through but Mr Fixit(Gestor) in Alcala sorted it. Only took 18 months, work starts next week.... :D

Would I need to get an NIE number to open a Sabadell account in their UK branch and would I be able to use this account for Spain when we move there next year?

Have there been any recent changes for the requirements for opening/using a Spanish a bank account? I ask because I have just had one (not my other one) bank acccount suspended as my NIE was out of date. Have just renewed it and the account is still frozen (won't accept incoming payments etc) until 'head office' can verify that my NIE is 'acceptable'. All very bizarre.

What I really want to ask is if you are not yet a permanent resident, but have a three month NIE, presumably you can still have and operate a bank account here?

I hope this makes sense.

Hi Alcala Barry,
Its probably more to do with the Bank not registering all your original details .

Had our account Blocked the other week even after having take all the details in and everything in "order"
Just stayed in the bank until they unblocked it.......... :D
Still using original NIE , Green Form and Passport......we are non-resident.

There was a thread about this the other week................

Have given the bank an NIE that I renewed in Jaen yesterday and they said they will be able to tell me in the next few days if they can 'unblock' my account. Apparently head office have to ok that ...

Our NIEs were issued in 2009. Despite all the bureaucratic jargon, there's nothing on the (paper) certificates indicating an expiration date.

Welcome to the forum.
NIE numbers are for life and, as such, do not have an expiry date.
Although I suppose they expire when you die but it is difficult to put your date of death on the paper when it is issued.
Cheers
