Sister moving to Velez Malaga

Postby RaybertK » Mon Jun 24, 2019 10:40 am

Hi everyone,
Looks like my sister has beaten me in moving to Velez. She has had a offer accepted on a property in the northern part of Velez. Now the hard work starts.
Would anyone know any good english speaking lawyers in Velez that deal with property matters?
What is the legal process that happens when buying a Spanish property?
Also so is it possible for her to get her NIE number in the UK?
Hope you can help my sister in her first overseas property purchase.
Regards,
Ray.

If not in Velez just down the road in Torre Del Mar will be English speaking solicitors. They will also help your sister get her NIE number from the policia. I not sure if you can complete on a property without an NIE. I am sure you can’t but I think you can start the buying process if you have applied.

If your sister has had an offer accepted the seller will want 10% deposit asap which is non refundable if you pull out. You will deposit this through your solicitor.
Make sure you do a search also.

I believe you can get you NIE at the embassy in london if you are anywhere nearby. Otherwise as said above a lawyer/gestor can get it for you. Make sure the lawyer checks the castral worth of the house as ive read lots of cases of people thinking they were getting a bargin only to be landed with a hefty tax bill down the road

Does checking the castral worth mean you can also be sure you are not paying over the top?
