Villanueva Del Rosario

Postby Mobylette63 » Fri Dec 13, 2019 2:32 pm

Hi..After selling our townhouse in Mallorca we are looking at property in rural Andalucia. After visiting the area we are still trying to gather as much info as possible. The mainland is obviously totally different to island life. Not too keen on the over developed coastal areas or a large expat areas either. I know it gets cold in the winter but is it mainly bright? or grey in the hills? We have been exploring the area around Villanueva del Rosario and Antequera so far...Any tips or advice would be gratefully received

Cold in the winter is an understatement. Also as nice as Antequera is in the summer months the temp can hit 45.

So you mean -10 in the winter, that’s cold or just below freezing some times?

If you follow this link you can check the Amateur Weather Stations in the area and view their records for the year.

Hi Mobylette63,

On average inland is minus 5 - 10 c cooler than the coast in winter months and 5 - 10c Hotter in the summer.
Would expect to see -2 to -4c and snow here at some stage , had -9c one winter ( the village mains water froze) , recorded over the past 15 years.

I never would class Antequera as Inland you need to come further North to Córdoba and Jaén provinces .
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

It snows in Antequera so I guess -2 or a little colder.

Enrique, I wouldn't call it coastal either.

When we lived up in the hills behind Calahonda in the 90's my wife sometimes wore an insulated ski suit in the winter, indoors, not joking !

Haha ... I don't call Benalmadena Pueblo coastal!!

As for Antequera, in early springtime it in can be sun block and shorts in the afternoon and thermals by sunset.
