Salty Water

Postby Sandra » Wed Mar 14, 2007 10:25 pm

My friend lives in El Chorro and for the last year or so the water supply to him and his neighbours has been very salty and has killed off the garden plants and the vegetable garden that the neighbours relied on for food. Does anyone know why this water suddenly changed, and if there is any likelihood of an improvement in the near future?

It does happen in times of drought.

If the water is coming from a borehole then if the underground water supply drops too low then seawater can find its way in with that result.

The only real solution is to get water from more than one source.

We have two water suppliers and a few years ago one of them went salty. The second one stayed fresh.
