Smoke Alarm maintainance

Postby RichardCoeurdeLion » Thu Aug 04, 2016 11:43 am

We have a couple of mains powered with battery back up smoke alarms in our house.
Last night one went off for about 10 seconds then stopped. I checked everywhere and it was ok. Ten minutes later the same thing happened.

Today I rang the local fire station for advice.

Apparently over time dust can get in and cause this problem. The solution is to give it a good going over with a vacum cleaner.

Just thought I'd pass that on.

Thanks Costa. With ours, when the battery gets low, you get a single beep every ten mins or so.
