Black stain in corner of pool

Postby fyfin » Mon Aug 27, 2018 1:34 pm

Two corners of the pool have developed a black stain or dark stain which strangely only affects some of the little tiles. There is one column of a single tile right in the corner which hasn't been touched. I tried brushing and using a nylon scouring pad etc but nothing seems to remove it.

I thought maybe it was a fungus but the chlorine level is actually higher than it should be so I have no idea.

Maybe I need to over chlorinate but I'm a bit reluctant to do that until we finish using the pool. Otherwise everything looks ok, the water is clear and the pump is on for about 8 hours a day.

Any ideas?

If it is algae, try an algicide.

Had something vaguely similar on mine a few years back and it was rust staining from a reinforcing bar pickling through to the surface
