Has anyone used the now tv package that's being included with the x-box one? Interested to know how well it performs.

If you are expecting the same content that you get on the NowTV box, you will be disappointed. You will only get the Sky subscription offerings. The UK TV channels will not be available.

The way NowTV is marketed can cause some confusion. NowTV is not a box, it is a Sky subscription (PAYG) system that will run on a number of devices. It just happens that one way Sky promote it is to sell you a subsided and crippled Roku box at a very attractive price.

The fact that we can no longer get the UK TV channels down in Southern Spain also confuses the issue as we tend to see it as a magic box that will allow us to receive UK TV again. In fact, II suspect that the majority of users here don't bother to continue with the initial bundled subscription after it expires and just treat it as a convenient set top box that gets UK TV. It is also a pretty good way of converting an older TV to become an effective Smart TV with the catch up options.

If you were in the UK, the fact that it gave you the ability to watch live BBC and ITV would not be especially attractive as you can do that more easily on your TV.

There are native UKTV apps for the Xbox. You would need to google to see if they can be download onto it from Spain.
You might need to set up a UK account but if it's anything like windows 10, only one account can be used at a time unlike the Play Station onto which is much easier to download the UKTV apps.

hi folks, i only registered on here as i found this thread when googling for some info for the nowtv boxes,

i have a nowtv running plex, it runs off private servers and runs plex which is a an app that can be added to the box.

the server i use contains all of the main uk channels plus over 4000 movies and 1000 tv series and would not need a vpn to use it regardless of where you are :-)

If you have the NOW TV box, it might be better going down the SKY route.

Anybody signed into the Channel4 app on their NowTV box? I just get the message "Login error. Please try again later". I've checked and double checked my login details, and can sign in without problem on the PC, but would really like to sign in on NowTV since I've noticed they've added a "favourites" feature - but can't use it unless I can log in! Waiting for response from NowTV & Ch4...

The app is working fine without signing in. I just can't sign in, which I want to!

I have just signed in (failed first attempt) working OK. The sign in is case sensitive, that's where I went wrong the first time.

I have kept trying to sign in to the Ch4 app (no response from Channel4 yet) and to my surprise, successfully logged in last night.
All well & good, I can save shows to My Favourites, but I cannot play them - when I try selecting them, nothing happens! I end up having to find the show again via the other menus or search function. Anyone else noticed any similar problems?
I would still love to see NowTV come up with a seperate "favourites" feature where programmes from all apps can be saved in one place, but I guess that is unlikely to ever happen.

I notice there is a new Now TV box. However, I'm not sure, apart from the fact it is more powerful, it's worth buying due to the fact its only extra feature is a Freeview TV tuner.

One day there might be a similar streaming version with an EPG.

Now TV is easy to use and a good option provided you get at least a stable and consistent 4Mbs download speed and you don't have a low, less than about 40Gb per month, data cap with your provider, then you will be OK for TV viewing via the internet. 40GB gives about 120 hours of viewing in SD.
Another option is TV via the Intelsat 907 satellite provided the dish can be mounted with a clear view of the sky in a 27.5 deg West direction. This will only give you BBC1, BBC2, BBC4, BBC News, BBC Parliament, CBBC
Cbeebies, ITV1HD, Channel 4 HD, Film4 ,Channel 5 and lots of radio programmes.
There are no ongoing costs or worry about data caps with Intelsat 907.
Cheers
