AlertCops
AlertCops
Read an article about an Android and IOs app called AlertCops.
This app is very easy to set up, in Spanish or English, and use by the look of it.
It enables you to alert the police, in your chosen language, to various crimes such as theft, vandalism, aggression fights, sexual assault etc etc with a few simple taps on your smartphone it uses your location, from the phone so the police know exactly where you are to send assistance.
Now installed on mine and my wife's phones.
Hope we never need to use it.
Cheers
Gerry

Works OK on my wife's phone which also has a Spanish, Vodafone, sim and a UK ,Three, sim.
When you registered for the service did you give the Spanish or UK phone number?

Doesn't give me a chance to register. Just goes straight to the error message... My Spanish SIM is on HITS, maybe it's not compatible for some strange reason...gerryh wrote:Works OK on my wife's phone which also has a Spanish, Vodafone, sim and a UK ,Three, sim.

Re: AlertCops
Works on my hits sim fine. Try uninstall and then install again.
Re: AlertCops
Is your Hits Sim in the Sim 1 slot and your UK Sim in the Sim 2 slot?
If not try them that way around.
I expect that the AlertCops app is looking for a Spanish Sim and is looking in the Sim 1 slot for it.

ETA
Just switched off Sim 1, the Spanish sim, on my wife's phone and left the UK Sim active.
AlertCops gives message " that no sim present" or words to that effect
So ensure your Hits Sim is in Slot1

Re: AlertCops
The police aren't really interested in crime reported by the public; It upsets their normal routine.
My SPanish partner phoned the police to report a house being broken into. the response........we're busy doing the school run at the moment.
We've also had the necessity to involve the various police forces at different times in the past through the 112 service. Total pile of rubbish. It transpires that all 112 can do is contact the police and ASK them to intervene. If the police decide they have something better to do they don't respond.

I can't switch the SIMs to confirm as one is fullsize and the other micro. The fullsize being the Spanish HITS SIM.gerryh wrote:Is your Hits Sim in the Sim 1 slot and your UK Sim in the Sim 2 slot?

Sounds like a plausible reason though.

Hi,
" can't switch the SIMs to confirm as one is fullsize and the other micro. The fullsize being the Spanish HITS SIM. "
So get it cut down to size and use a carrier for the micro in the full size slot..........
Just done that for a "client" .............

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.
Re: AlertCops
Are you saying that your phone has one full sized slot and one micro sized slot?
What make/model phone is it?
You might well find out that you can pop out the Micro one out of the full size one then use the full size one as a carrier for the micro one.
Most sims these days are produced in full size with a pop out part for micro and a smaller pop out part for nano sized sims.
Cheers

Re: AlertCops
The full sized sim is old, there is no popping out.. I'd have to take it somewhere and get it stamped.
For one app, nah, not worth the effort. Better that they fix the app since dual sim phones are not exactly uncommon these days...
Gerry, the phone is a Cubot X6

Hi Bob
Just had a look at the specs for your phone.
Looks like quite a good phone BUT very unusual for a dual sim phone in as much as it has different sized sim slots, one full size and one micro.
Cheers

Re: AlertCops
Had it for about 12 months now and given it's low price I'm dead impressed. Haven't got a bad word to say about it.
I think that quite a few of the 'chinese' phones have one fullsize/one micro slot. Seem to recall that was the case when I was looking at specs.
