Postby pensure1988 » Fri Mar 29, 2019 6:59 pm

Good Evenimg Enrique

How are you today

I have just been forced to upgrade to Skype verion 8.4.2 from version 7.4.1. Skype says I have to ugrade. I tried to uninstall version 7.4.1 and reinstall it again but it keep coming up that this version of skype is not supported anymore. I have now upgraded to version 8.4.2 and my friend and I are having this sound problem again, like last time with your Skype Call with me. I can hear the other person but he loses the sound from me. If there any fix for this or try to reinstall Skype Classic version from somewhere. Any help in thuis matter will be much appreciated.

Thank You

Regards

David

Is this on a windows laptop? Or an Apple laptop? Or is it an app on a tablet or phone?

There ia a website apkmirror that has old versions of apps that you can re install.

The easiest thing to do though is ask the above question on Skype Community and a Skype employee will tell you exactly what to do

Hi pensure1988,
From the last time we looked at this problem I recommended you got a USB headset with Mic......have you done this :?:
Skype has changed the way the audio is handled in the Code for Version 8........and your drivers are having an issue............Did you update the Drivers from the Laptop manufactures Web Site............ :?:

I'm still hanging to life by a thread .........so good thanks............ :D

Hi Enrique

In answer to your questions:-

1) I am using a Asus U32A-R3008H Laptop
2) No , I did not buy a USB Headset with Mic yet as I managed to reinstall Skype Version 7.41 last time we spoke and it worked perfectly until yesterday when Microsoft pulled the plug on me.
3) I have already updated the Sound Card Drivers from the Laptop Manufacturers Website
4) I have found http://www.winytips.com/download-skype- ... -7-40-104/ a little helpful in this matter
5) I will try Skype Community and ask them a question

Thanks

David

Hi Enrique

Thank you. Why does Microsoft not test Skype version 8 upgrades in Beta Mode before they launch it worldwide.
It is the same with their Windows 10 new buid versions. There is always something that goes wrong on release

Hi,
The procedure.........

I have Skype ver 8 up and running I'm logged into my Skype account.

Right click on bottom Task bar, click on Task Manager, from the Task Manager Tabs -> Start-up and disable Skype
Shutdown the system......NOT RESTART
Power up system
Right click on the Ver 7 .msi file and install
This version 7 doesn't have an Auto-update Option.........well not that I've found.

I can now Manually start either Version.............

Hi pensure1988,
Download and install Free Version.............This will get rid of any left over Keys and Files for 7.41
https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_un ... nload.html

Uninstall Skype 7,41

Do Advanced Scan and remove Reg Keys and Files

Shutdown System
Power up System
When System up and settled down
DISCONNECT from the Wifi/Network
Now we are back to (5) in above post
Run thru the Install , when finished you will get a Skype Window saying you can't connect.
Reconnect to Wifi/Network

I've run thru both Procedures and if you're connected to Wifi ( as in my first procedure then it will ask to Update)
I did disconnect yesterday but didn't realize the result.

Hi Enrique

Thank you for all your help so far. I logged out of Skype 7.41.32.101 by mistake today as the system froze last night on me. Just tried to Logon again and it tells the same story as before " Update Now to continue, this version of Skype is no longer supported. What do I do know. I mention both versions of Skype and disabled in Task Manager Startup. I am back to square one again

Thank You

David

3.Shutdown the System
4. Power up the system
5. Disconnect the WiFi/Network
5. Right click on ver 7.41.32.101.msi file and installed it
7. When install complete connect WiFi/Network

Don't log out of Skype................. :D

Hi Enrique

The Problems arises when you loffoff skype and Logon again. Then you get this stupid Microssoft Skype Message.
Must I unstall Version 7 again and reload it again using your procedeure. Is the answer not to logoff Skype and only Power Down your machine every day.

Version 8 is still loaded on my Laptop. Start up is disabled in Task Manager for ver 8 already.

Thank You

Hi Enrique

I reloaded ver 7 and just as you said the stupid Microsoft Skype message came up again.

When you said buy a " USB head phone with MIC" , will any usb head phone do or must it be compatible with Voip ,skype etc. Where in Spain would be the best place to buy this component, a Computer Shop or Carrefour etc.

Thank You

Hi Enrique

Thank you for this information.

I have been down to my Local Computer Shop in Estepona and have ordered a Usb HeadPhone set made by Sennheiser for Euros 34 which is coming tomorrow. The shop owner has tested this make on a number of Laptops and everything has worked fine. It was also mentioned on Amazon.es. He mentioned two other makes MPOW and CSL but recommends the Sennheiser over the other two Brands

Hi pensure1988,
Once you've plugged it in and the Drivers have loaded , Go into Skype click on your Picture and then Settings -> Audio Video and set these to your new Headset/Mic.
Using Echo / Sound Test Service..........check it out.

Give me a call .........if I'm about we can do the real world Test.............
