Renault C 4 Cactus.................you may have your Make /models mixed up here
Citroen C4 Cactus .............. Renault Captur

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.
Re: New car
A friend has a Cactus, good car but a bit too much plastic for my taste. Drives nice enough. Captur is also very popular.

Yes, sorry, you're correct Enrique, it's the Citroen we're interested in !
Re: New car
I've been in a friend's Cactus but hated the dashboard. I prefer old fashioned speedo dials and knobs to control the heating/fan etc. She seemed to be forever prodding and swiping at the screen to get the aircon/fans to work. It's just a personal preference.

Re: New car
The C4 Cactus is designed to be very comfortable. The downside is it won't handle as well on twisty roads as a Captur would.
Both cars come with good small turbo petrol engines and they are both available with dual clutch auto gearboxes.
I have been in both and definitely prefer the Captur, but there really isn't much to choose between them. You either love the funky styling on the Cactus or you hate it!

Well, thanks for the input but as usual with the female species it's "well I'm not sure" I guess I'll have to do what I did on the last two occasions and choose for her

If you're looking for lots of car and space for your money, don't overlook the Dacia Duster (available 4x4 too). Some friends of ours have one here, and its sure-footed, well screwed together (on rough tracks), quiet, comfortable and spacious. Renault engine. Worth a test drive.

And they have just brought out a new model with significant improvements. A friend who has a holiday villa near us has the old one and loves it which is praise indeed as his other car in the UK is a DB9.TorreDelAguila wrote:If you're looking for lots of car and space for your money, don't overlook the Dacia Duster (available 4x4 too). Another Citroen option is the new C3 Aircross. A C3 with an SUV body. That’s probably a better comparison with the Captur.
