Blue car registration plates

Postby Capitan-Roberto » Sun Oct 13, 2019 3:28 pm

Have noticed that there are a few cars on the Costa, not many, with blue coloured registration plates and white letters/ numbers rather than the common white with black letters and numbers. Definitely Spanish plates as I saw them on a local taxi this morning.
Curious to know the significance, if any, of the blue ones.
Anybody know?

This was covered a couple of months ago. All taxis will have a blue rear plate to get rid of the illegal cabs operating.

I agree, I come through twice a month and get approached by illegal cabs every time. Not Spanish either.

Like the others said, all registered taxis should have a blue plate. But there can still be some older taxis with ordinary plates, though (they will also need to change them soonest).

But if the number starts with OI, it is a Organismos Internacionales, i e not a taxi. That car has the same status as diplomatic car (which has a red plate red and starts with CD, Cuerpo Diplomático).

Thanks for the extra information Peztis. Can’t say I have noticed either a OI or CD plate, but haven’t really been looking. Will do now though.
Cheers

Me neither. Only SP plates in our area.

And of course there will be no illegal plate makers churning out blue plates?

Well possibly because the Chinese even copied the Range Rover Evoque. Looks quite good but I bet it drives like a tuk tuk
