Finding a will . . . . . . . .

Postby scotty » Fri Aug 03, 2018 8:10 pm

If someone has made a will in Spain with a solicitor......... Can it be traced ? Is there a central register ? I need to see if my relative left a Spanish will. Thanks.

I think they are all registered and logged in Madrid.

Assuming your relative is passed already, and you are filling out the forms for the hacienda, they will tell you if the person has a will.

Im pretty sure that you cant randomly check unless you are the person doing it. I had to go to coin to fill out the hacienda forms with a bunch of other paperwork, then go to malaga to get another form to take back to them, then go to a lawyers office in coin and get mums will from them, then go back to hacienda... it took about 6 visits....

Our community Abogado has said we need my mothers passport. We dont have one as she died at age 98 and it had expired years earlier and was destroyed. Also needed is her death cert (translated into Spanish) from Ireland. So lets see how this goes . . . . . .

Not sure I get you Scotty, was your mum living in Spain at the time of her demise ? if so how did she do it without a passport ?

She was back in Ireland for the last four years of her life. She was never a "resident" in Spain.
