Quick question, what connects between the unit on the wall outside and the unit on the wall inside ?

Two cables, one for power and one for control signals and two copper pipes. All should easily go through 40mm hole in the wall. When I fitted my aircon I fitted 40 mm plastic pipe through the wall.

You can buy units that run off one outside fan unit but there not cheap. You will need something like these.

I know it's for Australia but you'll get an idea as to what you need.

normally one outside unit to one internal unit is best.

Probably is a distance restriction but no idea what it is.
As Swerve has said you can get multi head units but I would suspect that two normal systems would be more efficient/ cheaper than a multi head system.

There is usually a restriction with new units, but that is only because they come with pregassed pipes, usually 10m long. As far as I know, you just add extra pipes to extend the distance. There may well be an ultimate restriction as clearly you can't pump the gas for miles!

I originally looked at multi head units as we need five. You can get up to four, but they were more expensive than single units. They are normally used when you don't have the space for individual compressor units, or you just don't like the look of them.

We got multi-split units here (2 outside units running 8 inside units) 10 years ago. Cost then was around €9,000. Very effective but quite simply - a complete waste of money. We never have more a couple on at any time. Next time I'll go for single units. I took a trip to Worten and talked to one of the salesmen. He showed me a unit that is fine for up to 15m2. Cost was just under €300. They charge €150 to fit as long as the distance between the units is up to 4 metres. In short, for €450 you have one unit installed.

If one of your units is for a bedroom you may want to pay a hundred or so more as the decibels are lower. Having said that, with the system we currently have, any time we have it on in the bedroom, it's on for about half an hour before we go to bed. We then put it on "whisper" control set for anything up to 7 hours.

Extremely cost effective.

Thinking of buying a Worten air con unit, anyone tried these? Any good. One I'm looking at is 329 euros online?

The problem with buying little-known brands (of anything, including AC) is that when things go wrong, or need service parts, these may simply be unobtainable. It's a bit of a gamble.
With leading brands (Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Daikin...) you pay more, but parts availability will continue for years, and both main and independent repairers will have good access to them.
Worton is, IMHO, in the same class of retailer as Currys, PC World, Dixons etc., where the name of the game is pile 'em high, sell 'em quick, and bundle in an extended service contract. Wouldn't be my choice, except on a 'throwaway' basis.

Or you extend the guarantee to 5 years. If it fails, it's the shop's problem. Worten tend not repair. Any malfunction and they replace.

I assume one would include the 5yr warranty cost as well as the cost to remove and replace the bad unit when making price comparisons? Or does the warranty include all ancillary costs involved with a failed unit? Sometimes the really cheap stuff can be a good deal if all the details align......
