Second hand furniture around Lucena/Rute

Postby abrophy » Sat Aug 12, 2017 1:40 pm

We have just bought a town house in Rute and would like to know if there are any warehouses for secondhand furniture in the area - we don't mind travel sop if they are on the coast we would still be interested - any help greatly appreciated - TB

Hi, welcome to the forum.

There don't seem to be that many secondhand furniture shops in my experience. Might be more on the coast. Lucena , just up the road from Rute, has quite a few new furniture shops and outlets. Some of which comes "en crudo". In bare pine. maybe you could stain it yourselves. There is of course Ikea in Malaga . Not secondhand but you know what you are getting.

There is a Facebook page for "Lucena segundo mano" which advertises second hand goods in the Luena and Iznajar areas.

There are two large second hand furniture shops in Lucena, we bob in there every month or so.

EURO&GOLD COMPRO&EMPEÑO - Take the A-331 from Rute to Lucena come of at the first large round-a-bout onto the Ronda de San Francisco, just before Mercadonna on the right, it has a small car park at the front.

The other one is Maskeuros - Head out of Lucena north on the N-331 pass the large Carrefour (on the left), just past Bronpi (200m) also on the left you will find the store, more or less opposite Lucena ITV. Incidentally there are Maskeuros in Alacala la Real and one in Granada at the Neptune Mall. try googling or google maps.

Teboy

I will have a look at those next time.

Auctions. Sticking my neck out and saying only ever come across one. That was expat run out Campillos way. Think it stopped.

Spanish until recently didnt do secondhand. In my view a cultural thing.

Yes the auctioneers near Campillos folded in years ago

If you're heading Lucena way (don't forget to look out for the massive chair ;-) ) - carry on a bit further towrds Cordoba, and take the turning to La Rambla - this is a 'pottery town' & the poligono on you right as you enter the town has some lovely stuff, especially if you go towards the rear of the poligono where the factories are, most have showrooms.

A bit further on is 25km although it is motorway most of the way, another 20 km past that and you're in the city of Cordoba. Remember to observe the Lunch/Siesta hours they certainly do in La Rambla. There are plenty of ceramics shops at very reasonable prices, however the ceramic shops are part of the factory and they're likely to be closed during August.

Probably a bit far for you but there is Retro in Estepona who have really nice quality secondhand furniture. There are another couple of places on the freeway between Estepona and San Pedro but not sure if they are still open - I'm sure someone else can enlighten you on that. One of them called La Niche, I think.

Also there is a flea market in Sabinillas on Sunday morning that has everything from junk to antiques

Just an update - If you are venturing to Granada City then there are 3 or 4 very good second hand shops on The Camino Del Ronda well worth a visit if you are in that area which is just off the A-44 motorway very near to Hipercor & El Corte Ingles, on the A-44 turn off at Junction 128 (Mendez Nunez if you are travelling from the north. The Camino Del Ronda is a long road you'll want the stretch between El Corte Ingles and Genil river. There is a large underground carpark next to Dealz (Yes there is a Deal in Granada) on the same road or you could also park at Hipercor and walk it’s not far.

Anybody know where we could acquire some of those hand-painted rush-bottomed wood chairs favored by flamenco performers? Anywhere in the south ... we're stumped.

Maskeuros in Lucena has now folded in. It was part of a small chain of stores buying and selling second hand goods. After a search on google it looks as though the stores in Alcala La Real, and Granada have taken the same route.
