Speeding Fine

Postby .:JONTY:. » Wed Oct 11, 2017 8:29 pm

Returned from Vejer de la Frontera 2 weeks ago and today I've received a speeding ticket for doing 65 km/hr as I was entering a 50km/hr zone whilst breaking on the N-340.
Guilty as found.
I can pay the fine within 20 days and pay only 50% of the 100€ fine, which I will do.
Q - Will this offence affect hiring a car in the future and will this have any affect on my UK driving license?

As no points are involved, simply a fine, I guess that it will have no effect on hiring a car or on your UK licence.

The only thing it will effect is your wallet.

That's interesting, is there a system where we get points and does anyone know of same? (ie the point where it kicks in)

Thanks.

Table of fines and points here

https://sede.dgt.gob.es/Galerias/tramit ... ocidad.pdf

You don't actually get points, you lose points. You have 12 points to start with and after 3 years fine free, you get another 3. When you hit zero you lose your licence.

Thanks for the link El Cid.
I hope I don't lose another 3 points after 3 years fine free! LOL

You might also be interested to know that there is a tolerance level applied to all speed radar. It varies by speed, but in the case of motorways the cameras will only activate at 131kph. If you take into account the speed inaccuracy built into all cars, the trigger point is nearer to 135kph.

On Monday here in Los Alcazares a 70-year-old English man was knocked down on a pedestrian crossing and killed. The car was reported as being driven "quite fast" and the driver said she was "distracted".
Awful for all involved.

Thanks for the info.
Fine paid online £44.64.
Lesson learnt.

€50 euro is only 44 pounds? I suppose they apply their own exchange rate too..

If you pay within a certain time the fine is discounted by 50%, so €50 or £44.64?
