Cepsa charge more because they use more expensive light weight bottles which is also why the price is not regulated .

Repsol 14.80 old heavy bottle from small village, newer lighter blue and red 16.80 from a busy petrol station. Maybe as the older plain orange bottles are phased out the price will stay high and consistent with Cepsa's offering?

Are the lighter bottles not widely available elsewhere in Andalucia yet? They really are so much better. I do however wonder at the longevity of the handles with use/maluse. Time will tell.

Its not a matter of orange steel bottles being phased out they will continue to be sold along side the lighter aluminium aloy bottles . They are used for Butane and the hotter burning Propane .

Paid 17.20€ from a BP station for a Cepsa (silver lightweight) bottle yesterday. The previous one had lasted 4 months so still cheap!

If it was my company , I would be phasing out the heavy orange bottles and replacing them with the blue and orange lighter weight bottles. Never seen propane for sale in our area and specifically asked this morning at the Repsol garage.

anyway paid 14.80 at our very rural shop last night for heavy bottle and today paid a whopping, eye watering 17.40 for the same quantity of the same gas in a blue/orange bottle. That is some mark up

Just read in the newspaper that gas prices are taking huge hike mid January and electricity a moderate rise. (at the moment the report states that the current price is 14.45€ for butane, I have just paid 52.50€ for 3 bottles at 17.50€ each. :wtf: Is the 14.45€ before the vendor slaps on their commission :?: I had been paying around 17€ per bottle during Nov & Dec last year.

If its the silver bottles they can charge whatever they want , its the Red Butano bottles that are price capped and quoted , the only addition a vendor can charge above the cap is for delivery .The price you mentioned will be the capped retail price for Repsol Red Butano until the next review . BP get away with adding 20 or 30c but i dont know how as thats sold direct from the garages .
