Any ideas what this is...?
Any ideas what this is...?
The pix aren't great, but can anyone put a name to this plant? They're everywhere on my plot and in the mountains. I can't see anything like it on the internet. The flower's a bit Lavender-like (although I think that in the picture some flowers have fallen off), and the leaves a bit fern-like but quite thick and they are amazingly fragrant when squeezed so I'm guessing some kind of herb. A name would be great! Thanks..

Wild Lavender here too, although not doing so well as some years , I think because of the lack of rain. The bees love it.
Re: Any ideas what this is...?
Thanks for that. The bees do love it and it brings a bit of colour and lovely fragrance to the hills.. Thanks again.

Its botanical name is Lavandula Dentata:

Thanks chrissiehope. I Googled 'Wild Lavender' as wicksey and country boy suggested and it came up with the 'Fern Lavender' which has identical leaves to mine...

Yes, I'd agree - shame they don't give the botanical name ...

is this it? I also found it on an American site and they said the leaves are poisonous but otherwise couldn't find a lot about it. Our cats come in smelling of it and very fragrant.

We have a lot of what we call wild lavender round here.
https://www.gardenia.net/plant-variety/ ... s-lavender
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavandula_stoechas
We will call it Spanish lavender from now on --- lovely to look at, but we find its smell somewhat pungent rather than attractive.

Re: Any ideas what this is...?
It only said poisonous on one Amercian site and I can't find it again and no other site mentions it.
I notice it is described as the leaves having a scent like oregano which is quite accurate as I always found it smelt more herby than what I know of as lavender.

Re: Any ideas what this is...?
I couldn't see anything about it being poisonous. In fact the link https://bonnieplants.com/product/spanis ... -lavender/ suggests culinary uses. I bought a really big one today for €4 - Bargain, I thought! I agree it has a very herbal smell rather than lavender..
