Intelsat 907 receiver
Intelsat 907 receiver
I was at the Tuesday Trapiche Market and there was a stall with a different Intelsat 907 receiver.
They claimed that the box was exclusive to them.
It received the normal TV and radio channels.
It could display the full EPG which gets updated every morning via an internet connection.
It is capable of recording up to 5 different programmes at the same time.
The really useful thing I found was you can look through the EPG and when you find a programme you want to record you just press the record button and it is scheduled to record.
Also the recorded list of programmes shows the actual name of the programme and date and time.
with my Technomate box I just see BBC1, or whatever channel had the programme I recorded, and the date.
Box costs €250 installed. If ever my Technomate box dies I will seriously think about getting one of their boxes.
Cheers

Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
Nothing is exclusive! Presumably another Chinese import. It does sound very interesting as it covers all the problems, or lack of function I have on my Genius/Icecrypt receiver.
If you can find out exactly what it is I would be very interested and also what the cost would be for someone with an existing dish etc where it should just be a simple box swap.

Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
The €250 was for more or less a simple box swap.
I'll try to find out a bit more about the box but I couldn't see any name/ model number on it so perhaps it is an exclusive build.
Must admit I haven't seen a similar looking/ speced box anywhere else.
Cheers

If it does what it says I would happily pay that price.
Lots of people are paying more than that every year on IPTV subscriptions.

If you have chance pop along, to the market at Trapiche, on a Tuesday morning and have a look at one in action.

I will certainly do that, but we have visitors for a week or so, so I might not get there for a bit. I have passed on your comments to my current supplier and asked him to look into it.

I think it's probably this bunch that you're talking about Gerry as I saw them recently at Trapiche Market

You may recognise them from their pic in Sentinella in their techie outfits

Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
These green brothers are the firm that flogged us a card to get channel 4 back in the old days, knowing that it was going to be added to the Freesat package the next week. If you shake hands with them check if you still have any rings or wristwatches....

Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
If you look on the link provided by Paulinmalaga it would appear that the "magic" box they are flogging for €250 is simply the VU+ Zero linux based satellite receiver. NOT as they state "Our newest product designed by us and exclusive"
A quick search finds that they are available from various sites for£79.00 new.

Hi Peter
Agree with you I not sure I fully trust anything they say.
Hi biriibiri
Thanks for the info. Found many on Ebay. I have contacted one of the sellers to see if he can install the firmware etc that is needed for Intelsat 907

Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
I don't understand how it can record 4 channels while watching another. Surely that is only possible with multiple tuners and this has only one.

Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
If the EPG is received via an internet connection do you need the internet for the recordings too?

No, but would need to attach an external disk or high capacity USB stick.

Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
I know it's quite different, but I remember the MAG250 box being hopelessly over-sold, and quite pointless for anyone not sufficiently tech-savvy. I threw ours back at Amazon shortly after taking delivery of it.
In general, beware tech businesses at market places!

Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
I have been told, by someone I believe is reliable, that it isn't a problem as all the channels on Intelsat 907 are transmitted on the same frequency.El Cid wrote:I don't understand how it can record 4 channels while watching another. Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
Contacted the seller on Ebay UK but he said he can't supply the box ready for Intelsat 907 and he replied " ... I sell my goods worldwide and I do not have access for all satellites, of course. Final setup is the receiver owner responsibility.
As I checked, with google you can find many information how to setup Enigma2 receivers for your prefered satellite."
Found two suppliers on Ebay ES both sell them for €99 including next day delivery.
I have asked them if they could supply the box ready set up for Intelsat 907, awaiting their replies.
Done some Googling regarding set it up myself. Haven't found any simple/clear guide as yet.

Re: Intelsat 907 receiver
You would also need to find an EPG and incorporate it in the receiver software.
I guess all that is why they are charging €150 extra for a plug and play box. I have seen worse firmware/software deals!
It looks like a good opportunity for a bit of haggling.

Still looking for set up guide.
