Pin Code not working after Windows 10 Update

Postby pensure1988 » Tue Jun 12, 2018 7:33 am

Good Morning

I have an Elderly Friend who can not get into his Acer Laptop using his Pin Code.I think he has just had another Windows 10 Update installed. Googling the Internet does not really help me to assist him. I think he has forgotten his Password as well. Please can anybody give me further information here.

Thank You

David

Hi Enrique

I know he uses Outlook but cannot log on to his Acer Laptop at he moment. i think when he switches on , the Laptop prompts him for a Pin Code. My Assus Laptop prompts me for a pin code when I switch it on also.

Hi pensure1988,
Some pointers............
On the PIN login screen the will be an option to login to an Account.......click once and it will say Bad login , click again and it may put up a Hint this may jog owners brain and remember the outlook password .If not Follow through with Forgot my password, depending how the account was setup you may get a code via a phone and get logged in.

Was the update a big one taking hours to complete with numerous reboots, if so it would have been the 1803 Features Update, if it happened less than 10 days ago it could be and option to revert back to previous version 1709......more on this later.

Take your laptop over( for Google support) and a USB keyboard, try the PIN with this Keyboard.

If none of the above is working.......from the login screen Hold the SHIFT key and over bottom right of screen do a restart keeping the Shift key down.
This will bring up a Menu and you will have an option to rollback to previous version......only if less than 10 days have elapsed. There are other Options like System restore.

If you want "phone support" we need to setup either Skype or WhatsApp in the next day...........

Hi Enrique

Thank you all your Pointers. I will try all which you have suggested and let you know Friday Morning. Maybe we will be sucessfull in overcoming this problem. The Gentleman is 85 years old and gets a bit flustered sometimes when his Laptop is not working properly
