classic car

Postby wollie » Fri Aug 17, 2018 10:48 am

I am hoping Olive may know a bit about this.

My story is i want to buy an old classic car in Spain so hopefully someone can advise.
As i am in Spain for just 10 days can i arrange insurance in advance on-line and just pick up and drive.
I am not a Spanish resident and do not have a Spanish drive license, i do have NIE and Spanish address.
Also this car will not have ITV test so does this make any insurance invalid.
It is my intention to take this car out of Spain in the coming months if i can make this happen.
I tried doing this before but there was issue with gear shift so it fell through.

Many thanks....

As discussed in other threads, to be able to transfer it, you may be asked to provide a Padron certificate, especially in Malaga province.

How about enlisting the help of David Bazely at Specialistvehicles.com?

He would inspect, transport, register onto Uk or other country plates as required.

Have used his services and recommend him highly.

Might be a better car elsewhere in Europe. Mobile.de is a handy site and has filters in English

Hope that helps

Sid, i did not think i could apply for a pardon unless i was in Spain for more than 183 days, please point me towards the thread you mention as i looked before i posted and all i could find was an old thread of my own.

Olive, The car i mention is right hand drive which is the attraction of buying it, if this car had lived in the UK it be dead with rust from wet weather and salt from the roads.
Getting someone else to transport not an option , that's part of the fun doing the journey.
My concern is having valid insureance and if same be vaild while i am driving after initial purchase.

Man=y thanks...

There is a thread here viewtopic.php?f=36&t=33513&hilit=Padron

Legally you can only sign on the padron if you permanent residence is in the town. However, many people who are non resident do sign on, often to facilitate buying a car.
